In the show 'The Return of Superman,' actor Shim Hyung-tak brought up the family story he had kept deeply hidden. Earlier in the broadcast of 'Groom Class,' Park Sul-nyeo was seen taking care of Sayaka Hirai, who is pregnant, as she visited the couple. She presented gifts like a handmade newborn garment, a gold thread, and a hundred-day hanbok, sharing familial affection.
Shim Hyung-tak said, "Meeting the teacher before the birth warmed my heart. In fact, we have no adults to rely on. Preparing for childbirth on our own was scary and lonely," as tears welled up in his eyes. He added, "I am truly grateful that she did everything a grandmother should do for me," bowing in thanks. In response, Park Sul-nyeo noted, "It is admirable and beautiful to see a couple having a baby right after getting married and preparing for it together," also tearing up.

He revealed, "There was not a single blood relative at my wedding. I was alone. I was deeply hurt by my family and it was so hard that I felt like I was dying."
Shim Hyung-tak was embroiled in civil litigation due to financial issues with his mother. In an interview, he confessed that he experienced such mental suffering that he could hear ringing in his ears, saying, "I begged my mother to save me." Fortunately, the court acquitted him, but looking back, he said, "The issues with my mother were the greatest pain in my life."
