Comedian Yoon Hyung-bin appeared on 'Radio Star' and achieved a TKO victory during the talk.
Yoon Hyung-bin revealed the behind-the-scenes of his retirement match against mukbang YouTuber Banzz that took place last month during the broadcast of MBC's 'Radio Star' on the 23rd. Despite various unfavorable conditions, such as a formal match after 11 years, facing an opponent 10 years younger, and a devastating loss in the last match, Yoon Hyung-bin explained the process of his unexpected big victory.
Yoon Hyung-bin explained, "I thought I should quit martial arts because of my age, but my name was mentioned by Banzz, which led to the match being arranged." Many expected Yoon Hyung-bin to lose, but he secured a TKO victory with a single light hook in just 1 minute and 42 seconds. Kim Gu-ra remarked, "Did you get 100 million won for that one punch?" expressing his admiration.
The match between the two gained attention for an unusual promise that the loser would delete their YouTube channel. Yoon Hyung-bin recalled the moment of confusion, saying, "As a comedian, I suggested it for fun. That friend has 2.05 million subscribers, and I have 20,000. I thought it was funny to propose that, but Banzz seriously accepted it, saying, 'I can handle that much commitment.'"
In fact, Banzz, who lost the match, deleted his channel with 2.05 million subscribers. Yoon Hyung-bin revealed, "I actually tried to stop him," adding, "I told him not to delete it and that he should rather give the channel to me," which elicited laughter.
Yoon Hyung-bin shared his business failures, stating, "I tried running a VR cafe and meal kit business, but it didn't work out," and mentioned, "I've lost nearly 2 billion won so far." He also revealed that the time when he closed 'Yoon Hyung-bin Theater' was the most heartbreaking for him.
Yoon Hyung-bin maintained the theater for his juniors even when he was incurring a deficit of 20 to 30 million won monthly during the COVID-19 pandemic, but he reported that with the revival of KBS2's 'Gag Concert' and the increase in comedy stages, he had to close the theater. He stated that 'Yoon Hyung-bin Theater' was remodeled into a K-pop performance venue called 'K-pop Stage' and that a music festival named 'K-pop Week in Hongdae' was also held recently.
He also revealed the behind-the-scenes of his representative character 'Wangbiho.' Yoon Hyung-bin explained, "When I searched for Yoon Hyung-bin, the related search term 'not funny' came up, and I decided I had to be funny," stating that he was inspired to create Wangbiho from Kim Gu-ra's harsh criticisms. Notably, he recalled making a critical remark about the fan club name of TVXQ, 'Cassiopeia,' saying 'It's Gasiogapi,' which attracted attention as 180,000 people came on social media for 1 hour to comment angrily.
Meanwhile, Yoon Hyung-bin is operating the K-pop specialized performance venue 'K-pop Stage' and meeting viewers through the U+ Mobile TV entertainment program 'Going As Far As It Goes 2.'
