The band DAY6 apologized again regarding the controversy of staff excessively requesting personal information during a fan meeting and promised refunds.
DAY6's agency JYP Entertainment stated on the 23rd, "We sincerely apologize to the audience who suffered due to the excessive identification verification process when entering the DAY6 4TH FANMEETING 'PIER 10: All My Days' performance."
According to the refund procedure announced by the agency, the refund targets are "audience members who were the ticket purchasers for the DAY6 fan meeting in the first week (1st-3rd performances) but were restricted from entering due to excessive identification verification processes conducted on-site," and the full ticket amount, including shipping fees, will be refunded.
The agency noted, "We deeply apologize once again to the audience who suffered due to the operational policies of this performance, and we recognize the seriousness and issues of this matter and will strive to show improved measures to prevent reoccurrences."
Previously, a story surfaced on online communities about a minor fan who attempted to attend the DAY6 fan meeting and had to confirm their identity with the police, but was ultimately unable to enter the venue due to staff obstruction. This prompted a flood of complaints regarding the staff's excessive identification verification processes. Many reported that even with the required form of identification notified in advance, additional personal information was often requested.
In response, JYP issued an official statement saying, "We have confirmed the excessive requests and collection of personal information raised regarding the performance. As we entrusted entry management to an operating company, issues occurred where unnecessary additional personal information was requested or audience members' personal information was collected and shared to verify additional prepared documents, causing inconveniences for attendees."
They continued, "The identification verification processes we implemented for existing performances were meant to distinguish between actual attendees and those illegally selling tickets through fraudulent means to protect the audience, but in this case, we failed to demonstrate flexible responses and management responsibility. We acknowledge our responsibility in this matter and will thoroughly manage to ensure that personal information is not collected unfairly without infringing on individuals' privacy."
