On the 24th (Thursday), MBC's "I'm Home!" (directed by Jeong Da-hee, So In-ji, Kim Wan-cheol, Heo Ja-yoon, hereinafter referred to as 'Homes') features broadcaster Ji Seok-jin visiting his hometown in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu.
This episode is prepared as 'Local Exploration - Suyu-dong Edition,' taking a nationwide tour with local residents. So far, 'Homes' has garnered attention by visiting very special local explorations with natives from various cities. This exploration features broadcaster Ji Seok-jin, who grew up in Suyu-dong, taking his close friends Kim Su-yong and Yang Se-chan on a local exploration.
The three people start the opening in a playground in Suyu-dong and dive into conversation right from the beginning. Ji Seok-jin, who revealed he lived in Suyu-dong until marriage, confesses that he used to hang out in Apgujeong-dong with Yoo Jae-suk. He reminisces, saying, "At that time, it looked trendy. We didn't have nice cars like the Orange faction, but we went out a lot."
Before diving into the serious local exploration in Suyu-dong, Ji Seok-jin visits the birthplace where he lived during elementary school. Excited to see his old house after more than 40 years, he is left speechless at the site, which has turned into an empty lot. While silently gazing at the vacant lot, Ji Seok-jin quietly approaches Yang Se-chan and says he doesn't remember, leaving Yang Se-chan flustered.
Seizing this opportunity, Ji Seok-jin decides to visit his elementary school alma mater and discovers the nearby Suyu Market. He seems surprised to find that a market is so close, as it feels like he walked a long way holding his father's hand as a child. Yang Se-chan jokes, "This is the tear point. You should cry like Jang Dong-min," but Ji Seok-jin, with a pained expression, says he has no tears, which causes laughter.
The three then move to a neighborhood near the Suyu-dong Rose Garden. They introduce that the name 'Rose Garden' is derived from a large rose farm that existed until the 1980s, which has since been demolished but still leaves traces throughout the neighborhood.
Yang Se-chan, who introduced that these days, the MZ generation likes to buy old houses, remodel them, and decorate them, explores a remodeled old house built in 2025. It is a single-family home that contains the elementary school, and when Ji Seok-jin, looking around, introduces, "This is (Yoo) Jae-suk's elementary school," Yang Se-chan and the production crew suddenly show great interest, evoking laughter.
The local exploration with 'Suyu-dong native' Ji Seok-jin will be aired on Thursday night at 10 p.m. on MBC's "I'm Home!"
