In the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Try: We Become Miracles," Yoon Kye-sang proves his title of "a thousand faces" as he embarks on a quest to redefine his life character.
The new SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Try: We Become Miracles" (written by Lim Jin-ah, directed by Jang Young-seok, hereafter "Try"), which will premiere on the 25th, is a comedic coming-of-age sports drama about an unpredictable eccentric director, Joo Ga-ram, and the perennial underdog Hanyang High School rugby team as they race toward victory in the National Sports Festival. Director Jang Young-seok, who co-directed the drama "Taxi Driver 2," teams up with writer Lim Jin-ah, who won the Best Work award at the SBS Cultural Foundation script contest. With a strong cast featuring Yoon Kye-sang (as Joo Ga-ram), Lim Se-mi (as Bae Ji), and Kim Yo-han (as Yoon Sung-jun), the drama is generating high expectations.
Amid this, expectations are rising for Yoon Kye-sang, who is appearing in an SBS drama for the first time in 18 years. Yoon Kye-sang has left a strong impression on the public with various charms across genres, from the ruthless villain "Jang Chen" in the movie "The Outlaws" to the diligent motel owner "Gu Sang-jun" in "In the Woods Alone," and the awkward kidnapper "Kim Myung-jun" in the drama "Kidnapping Day."
In this "Try," Yoon Kye-sang will embody a character that amalgamates his comic, charismatic, and emotionally impactful facets. Joo Ga-ram, played by Yoon Kye-sang, is a former idol star in the rugby scene who decorated the front page of sports news, vanished upon retirement, and returns three years later as the new coach of the perennial underdog Hanyang High School rugby team. Yoon Kye-sang is expected to vividly portray the character's unique charm, countering the schemes of Vice Principal Seong Jong-man (played by Kim Min-sang), who aims to disband the underperforming rugby team, with a playful laugh like a whimsical rugby ball on the field. Notably, his dialogue that exasperates villains is expected to unleash a powerful comedic bomb.
In addition, as he grows with the rugby team, the chemistry with his ex-girlfriend Bae Ji (played by Lim Se-mi) promises a dopamine-inducing romantic reunion, while the heartwarming teacher-student chemistry with mentor Kang Jeong-hyo (played by Gil Hae-yeon) and the tension with the vice principal's faction highlight his return as an MVP of delightful chemistry, generating even more interest.
As a result, anticipation rises for Yoon Kye-sang's performance as Joo Ga-ram, characterized by overwhelming charm, humor, charisma, and humanity.
