Actor Jang Jae-ho did not hide his affection for his wife, Gong Min-jeong.
On the morning of the 23rd, at a café in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, actor Jang Jae-ho met with OSEN to discuss his recently concluded projects.
Jang Jae-ho has appeared in various roles across multiple works, including the newly released Netflix series 'Squid Game', SBS's weekend drama 'Our Movie', and ENA's Monday-Tuesday drama 'Salon de Holmes', meeting viewers. His diverse performances alternating between villainous and heroic roles have showcased new facets with each project, enhancing engagement.
Prior to this, Jang Jae-ho became an actual couple with actress Gong Min-jeong after their wedding in September last year, where they played spouses in the drama 'Marry My Husband'. In January, they embraced parenthood with the arrival of their daughter.
Jang Jae-ho expressed his happiness about his daily life, saying, "I am really happy. Today, my wife and baby came out to greet me when I was about to get in the car. It's really incredible. Even after getting in the car, I kept smiling." He added, "I have always liked children. In fact, we found out we were having a baby while preparing for the wedding, so we decided to move the ceremony up a little. I had concerns, but we both intended to have kids, so it was good to have the baby sooner rather than later."
When asked if anything has changed since becoming a parent, Jang Jae-ho responded, "I've never really been angry. But having a baby completely changes the situation. If I feel it might be harmful to the baby, I get angry. I'm not typically one to be cautious around people, but especially 100 days prior, I become quite sensitive. I used to not care much about vaccinations like pertussis, but given the recent issues, I've become unavoidably sensitive."
When asked how those around him reacted to the changes in him, he said, "I'm a very positive person, so at first, they said I looked a bit overwhelmed. Plus, I'm not getting enough sleep. The fact that I started working after getting married and having a baby made me realize I can't handle things alone anymore. Being tired could pose risks. However, most responses suggest I seem happy."
In fact, Jang Jae-ho's hometown friends are already married and have children. Jang Jae-ho shared, "Honestly, seeing my friends made me feel a bit envious because I like kids. But it felt a bit distant for me. Then I met Min-jeong, and since we both had thoughts of having children, it just worked out perfectly."
"A few days ago, my baby turned 200 days old," Jang Jae-ho recalled with a smile. "Today, after dropping Min-jeong off in the car, the baby babbled 'byaa' from the back seat." Regarding reactions that suggest his child might have showbiz talent, he said, "I'm not sure. We've talked about it. If she were to become an actress, how would we handle that? If that were the case, I would train her very hard, given how tough this society is." He added, "I've proudly said such things. However, as long as she is happy, that's the most important thing," showing a father's affection.
Indeed, after marrying Gong Min-jeong, Jang Jae-ho has been active in various projects including the 'Squid Game' series, 'Our Movie', and 'Salon de Holmes'. He expressed his affection for his wife, saying, "In a way, it is said that people get three opportunities in life, and I think one of them was meeting Min-jeong. I've found comfort emotionally in acting, and we talk a lot. Rather than just a change in my filmography, I feel fortunate to have encountered good projects after meeting Min-jeong."
When asked if he had ever checked his fortune with Gong Min-jeong before marriage, Jang Jae-ho shared, "I've seen searches online like 'Gong Min-jeong Jang Jae-ho fortune'. However, my cousin studied fortune-telling as a hobby. As a Christian, I've asked him, 'What do you think about us?'. At that time, we weren't publicly acknowledging our relationship, and my cousin said, 'This isn't a friend's connection; it's a couple's connection.' Hearing that made me a bit startled," he said, evoking laughter.
Regarding what has changed the most after marriage, Jang Jae-ho stated, "Rather than an internal change, I've become more earnest about life outside of acting. I have to provide for my family. While Min-jeong works with me, being the head of the family changes things. I feel I need to live more earnestly, and when acting, I ask Min-jeong for advice and for feedback. My perspective has deepened significantly compared to when I was doing it alone.
