Announcer Yoon Young-mi has revealed her struggles with dieting, even at the age of 60.
On the 23rd, Yoon Young-mi posted a lengthy message on her personal social media, stating, "The health topics I have dealt with my whole life are body management and blood sugar. I love to eat, but dislike exercising, so I tend to gain weight easily. I have 40 years of experience as a dieter."
In the published post, she noted, "I have tried starving myself, one-food diets, and even injections to dissolve fat. I have tried all types of diets, both Eastern and Western. However, starving oneself is too difficult, and restricting carbohydrates leaves me drained, depressed, and irritable. There are so many delicious things in the world; how can I just ignore them? Also, all the tasty foods are carbohydrates, and cutting carbohydrates is like cutting out all the fun in life. Therefore, my dieting has been an endless tunnel without an answer."
In particular, Yoon Young-mi said, "My mother struggled with diabetes for 40 years before she passed away, so I am always on high alert regarding my blood sugar." She added, "Every time I go for a check-up, the doctor warns me that I am always on the brink of diabetes and need to be careful. They tell me to control my food intake and exercise, but I know that it's not easy..." Ultimately, her choice has been to use Wegovy, an increasingly popular weight-loss injection, while taking a blood sugar management supplement.
With this support, she mentioned that she has lost 3 kg over the past three months, stating, "I started using Wegovy two months ago, but since I am only taking the 0.5 dose, it seems that Wegovy is not showing much effect yet." She added, "I plan to continue using Wegovy for several more months and intend to keep taking the blood sugar supplement."
Born in 1962, Yoon Young-mi debuted as an announcer at Chuncheon MBC in 1985. She has been active as an SBS announcer since 1991 and has been working as a freelance broadcaster since leaving the company in 2010.
