Kim Jae-won, the announcer who hosted 'Morning Yard' for over 7 years, is leaving. The position will be filled by the new announcer Park Cheol-kyu.
On the 22nd, the production team of KBS 1TV's 'Morning Yard' announced, "Kim Jae-won has recently decided to take honorary retirement and conveyed his intention to leave the program, and the production team decided to respect this after careful consideration."
The production team of 'Morning Yard' noted, "We judged that Park Cheol-kyu's positive energy and empathy align well with the values pursued by 'Morning Yard,'" adding, "Through new collaboration with existing MC Eom Ji-in, we will provide viewers with a fresher and more beneficial morning."
New announcer Park Cheol-kyu has showcased his stable hosting skills and outstanding quick-wittedness in various programs like 'Who Does It Better' and 'KBS News Plaza,' as well as through the Friday segment on 'Morning Yard.' With his warm empathy and witty dialogue, he is expected to bring vibrant energy to 'Morning Yard.'
Selected as the new MC after 7 years, Park Cheol-kyu said, "It is an honor and a heavy responsibility to join Korea's top morning program, loved by the entire nation. I will do my best to warmly convey the stories of our lives every morning, following the path laid out by my senior Kim Jae-won, together with announcer Eom Ji-in. 'Morning Yard,' created by the newly joined announcer Park Cheol-kyu and announcer Eom Ji-in, will reach viewers at 8:25 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, on KBS 1TV.
Meanwhile, Kim Jae-won began his career as a KBS announcer in 1995 as part of the 21st public recruitment and has been active as a KBS announcer for over 30 years. After 30 years of service, Kim Jae-won decided to take honorary retirement, having hosted KBS's representative programs like 'Morning Yard' and '6 o'clock in My Hometown' for over 10 years without a single absence.
