Artist and lawyer Lee So-eun, who is active in various activities in New York, will soon release music as a musician after a long time.
Having received much love through 'You Look Like Me,' 'Kitchen,' 'Farewell,' 'Long Long,' 'My Dear,' as well as the duet songs 'Miracle,' 'Greedy,' and 'If You Call with All Your Heart,' Lee So-eun will release her new work 'Lee So-eun's Perspective - Notes on a Poem' at 12 p.m. on the 23rd, breaking a long 20-year hiatus.
This album is a collaboration with poet and children's song composer Rema (real name: Kim Eun-sun), featuring interpretations of 12 poems included in the poetry collection 'To My Little Giant' (Imaginary Publishing) through Lee So-eun's unique emotions and voice, delivering it in a colorful and vivid way.
Four bonus tracks, translated into English by Lee So-eun herself, are also included, allowing listeners to experience the various feelings conveyed through the change of language. Completed with collaborative production, this album contains a universal message that can resonate with and be enjoyed by various generations, showcased through Lee So-eun's clear and transparent tone and beautiful poetry.
Having majored in literature and engaging in diverse activities as an artist while also writing books and working as a lawyer, Lee So-eun has continuously maintained a deep interest in multisensory storytelling. With the birth of her daughter, she felt a thirst for content that could positively influence a flexible and pure heart. Through the simple themes and beautiful poetry contained in this album, she hopes to awaken children's emotions and comfort teenagers, serving as a medium of empathy through music in evolving relationships for the adults growing together.
The album features arrangements by Choi Jin-kyung, a member of the crossover band 'Second Moon', producer Yang Shi-yun, blues and jazz pianist Nam Mae-ri, and producer Lee Ki-hyun, resulting in a rich and unique album, enhanced by the featuring of cellist Hong Jin-ho, who is active in both classical and various genres.
The title track 'Compass' sings about having faith in oneself before a new beginning, and the children's choir becomes a warm support that touches the heart.
Additionally, various stories are conveyed through each track, including 'On the Way to School,' which poignantly expresses the life journey of a grandmother unable to attend school through the performance of cellist Hong Jin-ho, 'The Summer Apple Spoke,' which sings of hopes for life to continue blossoming like summer's apple with a rhythmic arrangement, and 'Seed,' which expresses a hope for life while sowing the seeds of life, harmonizing vocals with piano and guitar. Each of these songs elevates the essence of deep life from simple subjects.
Lee So-eun noted that starting with her jointly produced work at Calliope Studio, 'Lee So-eun's Perspective - Notes on a Poem,' there are various kids' media projects in the pipeline, including an audio series, books, and animated music. She expressed her hope that the joy and courage gained through this album work would be passed on to everyone. Simultaneously with the release, a launch performance will be held in New York, and after 13 years, a small theater performance will be held at Ewha Womans University on Aug. 30.
