Kang Se-jeong and Park Kwang-jae ultimately could not connect with each other despite their feelings.
On the broadcast of KBS Joy, KBS2, and GTV's 'Pursuing Old Encounters' on the 21st, the final after-selection time for the second season members was depicted.
Kang Se-jeong had been drawing a romantic line with Park Kwang-jae, but she chose Lee Gi-chan during their final one-on-one date, showing a confused demeanor afterward. In this regard, Kang Se-jeong said, "I spent time with three attractive individuals, excluding one person. I promised myself that this time would be honest to me, and I will choose the person I felt the most comfortable with."
Afterward, Kang Se-jeong approached the candle and said, "I believe that relationships also have timing," and she made her final choice of Lee Gi-chan, stating, "I will light the candle of fate with Gi-chan." She then explained her reason, saying, "You don't always need to do something. The naturalness that comes from comfort was really good and moved my heart."
Park Kwang-jae, who had revealed his firm feelings for Kang Se-jeong, said, "I felt so many emotions that I couldn't even realize what I was feeling," revealing his deep sorrow. He expressed, "Thank you so much for giving me unforgettable memories. It was a precious and meaningful time. I thought I wouldn't feel exciting emotions anymore, but it seems like my love cells have awakened again, so I am also very grateful for that," as he wiped his eyes.
He then said, "I really hope to see her again," adding, "Three days passed like a dream. She has given me an unforgettable experience. It hit me hard," showing his emotional response.
He approached the candle and said, "It's not like this is the last time I'll see her. I will move forward with the hope that I can see her again," and then mentioned, "I did write a letter to her. However, I will not deliver it. It's been decades since I wrote a handwritten letter, but I will keep it to myself," concluding, "I will not light the candle of fate." Thus, he ultimately did not make a final selection. Park Kwang-jae explained his reasons for not choosing Kang Se-jeong, stating, "I think I accepted things as they are. Since there's no longer any expectation at all, I felt like stepping back was the right thing to do."
Later, it was Lee Gi-chan's turn, and as everyone's attention focused on him, he explained, "I haven't mentioned anything about the person I'm choosing right now, but the reason I chose this person is that our time together, though small, was tranquil and warm. Moreover, the second reason is that during my time on 'Pursuing Old Encounters', those moments were the times I laughed the most. I hope we'll have time to laugh together again soon, so I will light the candle of grace and fate with Park Eun-hye."
The unexpected choice left all the participants in shock. Lee Gi-chan explained, "The most significant reason for choosing Eun-hye is that we had two meetings, and the day we went camping was peaceful, enjoying the breeze, sounds, and nature. When we did the sports day together, she pushed me to do my best, and when we were on the sports day, I think that was the most fun it got."
However, Park Eun-hye remarked, "I know all the people who came out here have thought a lot and made the decision to participate, but I was also contemplating during the journey here, and once I arrived, I felt so comfortable. This is why old encounters are important. I had so much fun, and I think I wondered whether this is true fate. This made me want to pursue old encounters more."
Continuing, she said, "Unfortunately, I have only met two people. Both of them coincidentally had connections with me a long time ago. It was a good time talking about memories from back then after coming here. However, I don't think I will be able to light the candle of fate." Thus, no one made a choice. She stated, "I felt like it would be rash of me to pick someone and then try to pursue a relationship with them." In the end, the four ended up without making connections, completing the selection.
