BTOB member Lee Min-hyuk (HUTA) has made a solo comeback after three years.
On the 21st, Lee Min-hyuk announced his return to global fans with the release of his new EP album "HOOK."
"HOOK" is an album that delivers a powerful impact to everyone, both in music and on stage. This album reinforces the name HUTA, capturing the ears instantly upon listening, and aims to target listeners' hearts like the strong impression left by the word "HOOK."
The title track "Bora" means "let's go" in Portuguese and is a dance pop song featuring a minimal hip-hop beat based on Bailey funk, vocal chopping sounds, and various electronic synths. As the title track, it is a song that prominently stands out with its strong and hook-filled rhythm that resonates with the heart upon listening.
In addition to "V," "Rosy," "XOXO," "Colorful," and the surprise pre-release "Wet" from the "WATERBOMB SEOUL 2025" performance, a total of seven songs that showcase Lee Min-hyuk's limitless musical spectrum are included.
Lee Min-hyuk participated in the lyrics and composition of all seven tracks, including the title track "Bora," proving his evolved capabilities as an "all-rounder" artist and personally introducing the new album "HOOK" through a Q&A session.
Here is a Q&A session regarding Lee Min-hyuk's EP album "HOOK."
Q. What is your feeling about returning with your solo album "HOOK" after three years?
A. I'm excited and truly happy to finally showcase music filled with HUTA's emotions after a long time.
Q. What kind of song is the title track "Bora," and are there any highlights?
A. From the first listen, it's a song that makes your body rhythmically move on its own. The expression "to go with the rhythm" is often used, and I believe this song perfectly embodies that sentiment.
Q. What are the key points of the "Bora" performance, and can you explain the key choreography?
A. The performance has a powerful and energetic feel throughout, with a controlled balance of intensity. Notably, during the hook part, there is choreography that emphasizes healthiness, featuring movements that highlight what is commonly referred to as "muscle tone."
Q. You participated in writing and composing all the songs, including "Bora." What aspects did you pay the most attention to during the process?
A. I've been producing all the tracks for my solo albums, and I believe I'm adding more of my artist's color each time I create an album. I have struggled to implement a sophisticated and trendy sound while also trying my best not to forget the unique emotions of K-pop.
Q. Are there any special episodes or memorable moments during the album preparation process, such as song work, recording, photo shoots, or music video filming?
A. Until the BTOB "BTODAY" album, I used the company's recording studio, but for this album, due to transfer issues, I had to move to different recording booths for each song. I remember it was not easy harmonizing with different engineers each time. In the music video, there was a scene with a boxer concept involving shadow boxing and hitting a sandbag, which I felt looked a bit awkward, making me feel embarrassed.
Q. Is there a particular song among the included tracks that you feel especially attached to, and why?
A. All the songs are like my children, so it's hard to choose just one, but I will fairly select the title track "Bora" for this album.
Q. Is there a response or phrase you hope to hear through "HOOK," or any goals you wish to achieve?
A. I want to be evaluated as a sensational and well-feeling artist. I hope this album appeals to more fans around the world.
Q. What are your activity plans for the second half of 2025?
A. I'm continuously discussing this with my company, and for now, I'm trying my best to fully engage in this album's activities without regrets.
Q. Please say a word to the Melodies who have been waiting for your comeback, Lee Min-hyuk (HUTA).
A. Thanks to the Melodies (BTOB's official fandom name) who have waited for me, I was able to stand on stage again. I sincerely thank you and love you. I prepared this album "HOOK" with the heart of giving you a gift, so I hope you receive it joyfully.
