A post revealed that fans entering the band DAY6's fan meeting were asked for their school records, and the agency JYP Entertainment issued an official apology.
On the 21st, JYP Entertainment posted an apology on its official social media, stating, "We sincerely apologize to the audience members who experienced inconvenience and harm due to the identity verification process during the entrance to this DAY6 4TH FANMEETING performance."
They explained, "We have confirmed the excessive demands for personal information and collection of information raised regarding the performance. While entrusting the entrance management to the operating company, there were incidents that caused inconvenience to the audience, such as unnecessarily requesting additional personal information or collecting and sharing the audience's personal information for further verification of prepared documents."
The agency acknowledged, "The identity verification process implemented during previous performances was intended to protect audience members by distinguishing between real ticket holders and those who illegally sell tickets by wrongful means; however, in this matter, we were unable to demonstrate flexible response and management responsibilities."
Additionally, the agency stated, "We fully acknowledge our responsibility in this matter and will thoroughly manage to ensure that personal information is not collected unfairly without infringing on individuals' privacy. We promise to refund ticket holders who could not enter the concert due to the excessive identity verification process, and we will provide further details on the compensation procedure in subsequent announcements."
Finally, they stated, "Once again, we sincerely apologize for the great emotional pain caused to the audience. We will do our best to ensure that the remaining fan meeting sessions can be enjoyed with a joyful heart."
Earlier, during DAY6's fan meeting held from the 18th to the 20th, a post emerged alleging that fans were requested to show their identification, as well as their parents' identification, family relationship certificates, and even school records while entering.
In particular, there were claims that fans could not enter if they failed to show the requested documents or substituted photographs instead of physical copies. Ultimately, as the controversy escalated, JYP Entertainment took the opportunity to directly issue an apology regarding the situation.
As the agency directly apologized for the controversy surrounding the identity verification process and entry procedure for fans, DAY6 will continue its second week of performances at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Songpa District, Seoul, from the 25th to the 27th.
