Former short track national representative Park Seung-hee revealed her heavy feelings while discussing her father-in-law's health issues.
On the 21st, the SBS entertainment show 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny' aired, showing the concerning daily life of Park Seung-hee and her husband Um Joon-tae.
On that day's broadcast, her usually lively husband Um Joon-tae appeared lethargic, raising concerns among the MCs. In response, Park Seung-hee cautiously spoke up, sharing news about her father-in-law's surgery.
He said, 'My father-in-law underwent tests due to a mass near his thigh, and abnormalities were also found in his lungs, leading to a scheduled surgery.' He added, 'My husband is struggling, and my mother-in-law can hardly eat,' and said, 'So I felt I needed to remain strong,' adding to the sense of sorrow.
Park Seung-hee took care of her family by personally managing hospital appointments and calmly conveyed her husband's feelings of guilt. He said, 'My husband seems to feel that if we had done better, it might have been different,' noting, 'We tried our best, but it seems those thoughts linger.'
That day in the studio, warm advice was also offered to Park Seung-hee. Seo Jang-hoon said, 'That guilt lasts a lifetime. You don't need to feel guilty in advance,' adding, 'It will come to mind later, so there's no need to feel that way now.'
Meanwhile, Park Seung-hee excelled as a short track and speed skating national representative, becoming a prominent ice skating star in Korea. After retiring following the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, she launched a bag brand and worked as a designer. In 2021, she married the CEO of a fashion brand, who is five years older than her.
