Actor Kim Hyun-soo announced his return to the screen as a webtoon artist hopeful.
The mystery thriller film 'Commission' tells the story of an art instructor, 'Dan-gyeong', who dreams of becoming a webtoon artist. She becomes embroiled in a serial killer case after accepting a mysterious commission through the dark web. Despite its unique setting and intense development, what stands out is the complex psychological transformation of the character portrayed by Kim Hyun-soo.
In the film, Dan-gyeong is a character who wants to prove her talent to the world but lives without recognition from anyone. Captivated by feelings of inferiority while comparing herself to her successful webtoon artist sister, Dan-gyeong is acknowledged for the first time by an anonymous client on the dark web. Following this commission and the substantial reward, Dan-gyeong gradually becomes deeply involved in the world of darkness.
Kim Hyun-soo intensively depicts the process of a character facing the desire to 'prove her value,' enhancing the film's realism.
In particular, she expresses the emotional transitions step by step, from the tension and excitement of receiving her first commission to the guilt felt as the drawings become entangled in crime, and ultimately the fear of losing control over herself, delivering a powerful performance befitting the title 'actor specializing in hardships.'
Kim Hyun-soo said, "I challenged myself to act in a way I hadn't before in 'Commission'. Dan-gyeong is a character who has lost her confidence due to comparisons with others, but she gradually changes through her commission activities. Although it was difficult to express such a character while acting, it was a joyful experience as an actress."
Meanwhile, the film 'Commission' will be released in theaters on July 16.
