The Korea Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Kim Byeong-jun) announced that Yunho, a member of the group Dongbangshinki, donated 50 million won to the Community Chest of Korea on the 19th to help those affected by the heavy rains.
This donation is expected to be used for urgent relief, temporary housing, living expenses, and recovery efforts for disaster victims in areas affected by the recent record rainfall.
Yunho noted, "I wanted to lend a little strength to our neighbors who are facing great difficulties due to the sudden rain damage." He added, "I sincerely hope that you do not lose your courage in these tough circumstances and take care of your health, and that you can return to your daily lives as soon as possible."
He donated 50 million won for the restoration of damage caused by the Gangneung wildfire in 2023 and has continuously made donations to various disaster and emergency sites, including the East Coast wildfire in 2022, special fundraising for COVID-19 in 2020, and the Gangwon wildfire in 2019. In particular, he joined the Honor Society of the Korea Community Chest of Korea in 2022, leading the way in promoting a culture of giving.
Meanwhile, the Korea Community Chest of Korea is conducting a special fundraising campaign until August 17 to support victims of the heavy rains. According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, as of 6 p.m. on July 20, there were 28 casualties (17 dead and 11 missing) due to the heavy rains, and over 13,000 people from approximately 9,700 households have been evacuated. Of these, more than 2,700 individuals are still unable to return home.
