Actress Lee Tae-ran revealed her reasons for choosing 'Colorful Days' and hinted at a new image transformation.
KBS2's new weekend drama 'Colorful Days' (written by So Hyun-gyeong, directed by Kim Hyung-seok, produced by Studio Coming Soon, Studio Bom, and Monster Union) is 'a generationally relatable family melodrama about how everyone has colorful days, whether now, in the past, or in the future. These colorful days are encountered with different meanings.'
Lee Tae-ran plays the role of Ko Sung-hee, who occupies the position of a chaebol's wife in the drama. With her beautiful appearance and exceptional ability to understand human psychology, Sung-hee is a character who struggles to maintain her position after remarrying successful businessman Park Jin-seok (Park Sung-keun). The audience is curious about what Sung-hee's true face hidden behind secrets might be. Lee Tae-ran is expected to heighten the tension of the drama as she perfectly embodies the sophisticated and elegant chaebol wife.
First, Lee Tae-ran said, 'I received the offer when I was preparing for the role of Lee Ji-young in the play 'Pink Lipstick.' I found it interesting that Ko Sung-hee is the exact opposite character of Lee Ji-young,' revealing the motivation behind her choice and sparking interest in the character of Ko Sung-hee.
She is building her stamina for a long-term project and stated, 'Above all, I'm thinking a lot about the character.' She added, 'I am doing a lot of research to express the character of Ko Sung-hee, who is 180 degrees different from me. There are times when it's hard to understand her, but I try to look at her with empathy for my performance and immerse myself in her.' This revealed the veteran actress's seasoned side.
Additionally, regarding her co-actors, she expressed, 'It's an honor and a joy to appear in a project alongside seniors I usually respect. I'm also looking forward to the performances of junior actors. There will definitely be good results.'
Having returned to KBS weekend dramas after 12 years, Lee Tae-ran described her character, saying, 'Sung-hee is an alluring character who instinctively knows how to appeal to others, but at the same time, she is a pitiful person who believes she can control everything according to her will.' She continued, 'To the viewers who remember my warm and down-to-earth appearance in 'The Wang Family,' I will greet you this time with a slightly different side. Please don't dislike Ko Sung-hee too much and enjoy watching the drama.'
KBS2's new weekend drama 'Colorful Days' will air its first episode on Aug. 9 at 8 p.m., following 'For Eagle Brothers.'
