A restaurant in Yeosu featured on the web entertainment 'Another House' is embroiled in controversy over its unfriendliness, and following the restaurant's stance, YouTuber A has also expressed his position.
On the 20th, A expressed his thoughts through a post on his YouTube channel community, stating, "I sincerely apologize for not being able to respond individually to the kind people who have come to comfort me on a channel I have been operating quietly. I plan to read all of the comments, even if it takes time, and I will humbly accept legitimate criticism. It seems that many of you have questions, but I have received many media inquiries and the concern of those around me regarding this situation, which is a significant burden, so I have only now written this post."
A responded to the most frequently asked question about whether he received an apology, stating, "My personal email and Instagram are listed, but no contact has been made in any way." He also revealed that he heard through Yeosu MBC that the restaurant expressed a position of 'being wronged,' and that he would substitute this response as an answer regarding the apology.
Regarding the reason for rejecting contact from local Yeosu media, he explained that by the time the contact was made, he had already completed interviews with more than 18 media outlets, and he felt mentally exhausted due to the media having aired a broadcast claiming 'being wronged' the day before, causing him to politely decline.
When asked about the purpose of posting the video, A candidly replied, "The purpose of creating and posting the video is obviously to have it 'seen a lot'." He added that prior to the spread in the community, the video had not exceeded 1,000 views for more than eight days.
In particular, regarding the behind-the-scenes of the shooting for 'Another House', he acknowledged that there were viewers who felt disappointed due to the shortness of the video, but he asserted that they had a candid conversation filled with many stories and that the published video seemed to have captured a lot of his voice during the editing process. He expressed gratitude to the producer and crew, as well as to Punja, for their consideration despite the challenging circumstances.
He took a firm stance on the highly controversial topic about the 'clarity regarding time' and his message to the restaurant, stating that he is well aware of provocative claims like 'I spent an hour without eating a single bite, just taking pictures.' He warned, "Feel free to make accusations. If it comes to manipulating public opinion with such comments or dragging it into legal disputes without revealing the full story, then I must make it clear that there are further things I cannot hide that I once intended to downplay."
A added, "I do not need an apology, so please do not escalate this matter any further and kindly refrain from speaking publicly. I would like to stop here." He mentioned that when the community and 'Rekka' began sharing his channel and the public opinion began to slip from his grasp, he felt weakened at times. He noted that had there been a 'sincere and prompt apology' at that moment, things might have been different, but he emphasized that is no longer the case.
The recent controversy over the unfriendliness of the Yeosu restaurant began when A revealed that he had received unfriendly service despite ordering two servings during his visit to Yeosu. A made public the owner's statement that 'it's not just one girl coming,' and the restaurant was highlighted as the top dining spot in Yeosu on Punja's hosted YouTube entertainment 'Another House', further contributing to the controversy.
In relation to this, the Yeosu City authorities quickly took administrative measures, and restaurant owner B expressed his grievances in an interview with Yeosu MBC, stating, 'The YouTuber should have asked for permission to film, but he did not. This person had two phones set up but did not eat. I simply said I would appreciate it if they could eat quickly and leave.' He added, 'I naturally have a loud voice. I also feel wronged.'
Full statement from the YouTuber Yoonanhi Today
I was hesitant about where to begin, but I thought remaining silent wasn't the best course of action, so I'm posting this statement.
I sincerely apologize for not being able to respond individually to the kind people who have come to comfort me on a channel I have been operating quietly. I plan to read all of the comments, even if it takes time, and I will humbly accept legitimate criticism.
I understand that you have many questions, but I have received many media inquiries and the concern of those around me regarding this situation, which is a significant burden, so I have only now written this post.
I hope you can understand that I cannot answer every intertwined question, but I will answer a few selected questions that I must respond to.
Did you receive an apology?
My personal email and Instagram are listed, but no contact has been made in any way. I have heard about the statement of 'being wronged' mentioned by Yeosu MBC. I will substitute this as an answer.
Did you receive any contact from the Yeosu area?
No. Contact came from Yeosu MBC, but it was a media outlet that aired the 'being wronged' report the day before, and at that time, I had already completed interviews via written and phone communication with more than 18 outlets. I kindly explained my situation and declined as I felt mentally exhausted.
Why did you post it?
The purpose of creating and posting the video is obviously to have it 'seen a lot.'
Before it spread in the community, this video did not exceed 1,000 views for more than eight days.
Behind-the-scenes of Another House shooting
I understand that there may be those who are puzzled or disappointed that the video is short.
In reality, we had a very genuine conversation, and it seems that the published video captured a lot of my voice rather than defending 'Another House'. I am very, very grateful to the producer, the crew, and Punja for prioritizing my consideration despite the challenging circumstances.
As a fan, I look forward to more videos in the future.
Other videos?
I am preparing for a visit to Northern India (Ladakh, Himalayas) next month, and I currently have footage from events in Gimhae, Busan, Jeonju, Chilgok, Gyeongju, Pohang, and Seoul. Since I am doing this concurrently, I will take my time to post videos, focusing on improving the lacking aspects rather than rushing to post many.
Clarity regarding time and message to the restaurant
I am well aware that provocative statements such as 'one hour' and 'I heard you just took pictures without eating for 20 minutes' are being made.
Feel free to make accusations. If it comes to manipulating public opinion with such comments or dragging it into legal disputes without revealing the full story, then I must make it clear that there are further things I cannot hide that I once intended to downplay, and I would prefer you to not escalate this matter further and kindly refrain from speaking publicly. I would like to stop here.
One thing is certain; as the community and Rekka began sharing my channel, the public opinion slipped through my fingers and grew, leading me to feel weak at times.
Honestly, had a 'sincere and prompt apology' been made back then, things might have been different, but that is no longer the case.
Once again, I thank those who have shown interest in the video.
