Singer Choi Young-cheol revealed that he is still misunderstood as having an affair by his children after his divorce.
On the 19th broadcast of MBN's 'Healing Show Dongchimi', the participants discussed the topic of 'the importance of children's fortune vs. spouse's fortune in later years.'
In response, Choi Young-cheol said, 'Listening to this made my heart ache, I cried and laughed inside,' and 'Since I was young, I really wanted to raise my children well, hoping they would become famous golf players or movie actors. That desire was truly intense. But life isn't going my way, I blew it all away in one go.'
He confessed, 'I lost all my wealth and even went into debt. I didn't realize how important my children were, and it was tough. It was very difficult, but it became even tougher over time,' adding, 'Now I really want to make good money and treat my kids well, but they seem unaware of how much I suffered. In the case of our daughter, she thinks that since our divorce, her dad ran away with some woman when he was losing money, abandoning her, and there has been no contact since then.'
When asked, 'Have you severed ties? Is there no contact?', he answered, 'Yes,' and when asked, 'Haven't you thought about trying to talk?' he revealed, 'I don't answer calls. I still don't.'
When asked, 'Have you also separated from your wife?', Choi Young-cheol acknowledged that 'the people who lost money were women,' admitting that he couldn't help but be misunderstood. Kim Hyun-sook interpreted, 'So, you got divorced because of the misunderstanding.'
Choi Young-cheol noted, 'Our daughter is still misunderstanding me. The son I love and care for has been seen once or twice. But oddly, my son has also cut off contact since last year. I guess they must have come to an agreement among themselves,' lamenting, 'It still hurts.'
Meanwhile, Choi Young-cheol married in 1992 and has a son and a daughter but divorced in 2011.
