The American IT corporation CEO, who was caught on the 'kiss cam' at a Coldplay concert and became embroiled in an affair scandal, has ultimately stepped down.
According to major U.S. media outlets such as CNBC and CNN on the 19th (local time), the American data operation software company Astronomer stated, 'Andy Byron, CEO, has submitted his resignation, and the board has accepted it.'
The company noted, 'Although external perceptions of the company have changed, our mission and products for customers remain unchanged,' and added, 'We will focus on what we do best.'
The incident occurred on the 16th, during a Coldplay concert held in Boston, Massachusetts. At that time, Byron and a female colleague, the head of human resources, were caught on the 'kiss cam' that showcased audience members. The screen captured Byron hugging the woman from behind, and the two appeared flustered, quickly pulling away and hiding their faces.
This scene was live-streamed to the venue via a large screen, and it quickly spread on social media. Videos trending on platforms like TikTok prompted internet users to track down the identities of the two, revealing that they both worked for the same company. Notably, it became known that both individuals are married, intensifying the scandal surrounding the affair.
Ultimately, Astronomer chose the drastic measure of having the CEO resign. This controversy also became an opportunity to imprint the company, which had previously been relatively unknown, on the global stage.
Meanwhile, Astronomer, established in 2018 in New York, is a data orchestration specialist company that has rapidly grown by collaborating with major cloud corporations.
