Netflix series 'Squid Game' proved its global presence once again by being nominated in multiple institutional sectors at the Gold Derby TV Awards.
According to the official Gold Derby website on the 17th local time, 'Squid Game' Season 2 was named alongside the nominations for best drama series and Ensemble of the Year.
The lineup is also striking in the acting sector. Lee Jung-jae, who continued to play the lead role from Season 1, is nominated for best actor, while Front Man Lee Byung-hun and Choi Seung-hyun (Big Bang's T.O.P), who played Thanos, are both nominated for best supporting actor.
In the best supporting actress sector, Kang Aesim, who played Jang Geum-ja, and Park Gyu-young, who portrayed the defector No-eul, have been named, while Gong Yoo, who appeared in Season 1 as 'Ddakji Man', has been nominated in the special guest category.
'Squid Game' has received nominations in a total of eight institutional sectors. Following Season 1, the strong casting, social messages, and high-quality direction in Season 2 were once again recognized.
Most of the characters holding major roles in Season 2 have been nominated in their respective institutional sectors, demonstrating the overall influence of the 'Squid Game' team.
Meanwhile, the 'Gold Derby TV Awards' is an awards ceremony organized by the American awards prediction media Gold Derby, marking its 22nd year this year. It evaluates artistic merit and acting skills across about 30 institutional sectors, including drama, variety, animation, and film. The award results will be announced on Aug. 18.
