A restaurant in Yeosu introduced on the web entertainment show "Ttoganjip" has been embroiled in controversy over rudeness, prompting the restaurant to speak out.
Recently, after being featured on "Ttoganjip", the restaurant caught attention due to the rudeness controversy and posted an apology at the establishment. The apology read, "We apologize for causing issues. We will welcome customers with kindness and a gentle approach in the future. We are sorry."
The incident began when a travel YouTuber A visited Yeosu and revealed that despite ordering two servings, they received rude service. At the time, the YouTuber shared a tearful review, disclosing the owner's remark, "It's not just one girl coming. If it's like this, it can go on endlessly," which sparked intense outrage online.
Especially, the restaurant gained even greater attention after being featured as the top dining spot in the Yeosu episode of the YouTube entertainment show "Ttoganjip."
Subsequently, A met directly with the host and explained the situation, while the host noted, "It must have been difficult to handle the attention and scrutiny after this became an issue, so thank you for coming," bowing their head. A stated, "The actual situation was worse than the video," clarifying that the core issue was not about a specific area or the entire restaurant, but rather the "review of an individual who experienced unpleasant service."
In response to the situation, Yeosu City promptly took administrative measures. Lee Seok-joo, a Yeosu city council member, announced on social media on the 17th that "Yeosu City conducted administrative guidance regarding restaurant service" and stated that they sent a formal request for improved service to restaurant owners and staff. The city is reportedly planning to visit the restaurant in question to conduct kindness training.
Amid the controversy, on the 18th, the restaurant owner B stated in an interview with Yeosu MBC, "(The YouTuber) said she would start filming but recorded without consent. This person placed two cell phones down, and it seemed she wasn't eating," and added, "Miss, you shouldn't do that. I only requested that she eat quickly and leave."
B also claimed, instead of a sincere apology, "I naturally have a loud voice. I'm also wronged," appealing to her grievances.
However, it seems that following the continued backlash, the restaurant ultimately posted an apology.
