Former national soccer team player Song Jong-kuk revealed the reason he has been living in a camping car for four years.
In the MBN program 'Altoran' aired on the 20th, former national soccer team player Song Jong-kuk appeared, introducing his current life living in a camping car for four years.
Lee Yeon-bok noted, when Song Jong-kuk, the key figure in the 'World Cup semifinals myth,' appeared, "Back then, when we reached the quarterfinals, sweet and sour pork was 8,000 won, and when we reached the semifinals, it was 4,000 won. We made it to 4,000 won. So, we ordered one sweet and sour pork per person, and I have fond memories of that," he said. Song Jong-kuk remarked, "They said they would give us a new car if we advanced to the round of 16, and as we reached the semifinals, the car changed. It was upgraded to a luxury sedan, and I personally took delivery of the vehicle after the World Cup. That was my first car."
Song Jong-kuk explained, "I am not living in a house currently; I have been living in a camping trailer for four years. I chose the camping car lifestyle for a free and comfortable everyday life." He said, "I find living in a camping car more comfortable than living in an APT. I felt uncomfortable living in an APT., but if you think of the camping car as my small home of 6 pyeong, it's great. The yard is a bit bigger than 300 pyeong."
Song Jong-kuk's camping car is located in a rural area near a small reservoir in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province. He boasted, "The good thing about the camping car is that it can move. Because of the freedom of movement, I can change the scenery as I wish," and started his day preparing breakfast early in the morning. Breakfast consisted of simple meals such as apples and soy milk, where he enjoyed leisure in a tranquil yard.
After breakfast, Song Jong-kuk managed a lawn as wide as a soccer field. After about 1 hour and 30 minutes of lawn care, he had a light salad made with vegetables he grew himself when lunchtime came. At that moment, Leo visited as a guest, and Song Jong-kuk showcased a commemorative photo from the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, saying, "Back then, there were many famous and skilled players even before Coach Hiddink arrived, but I was the first player he selected after his arrival. I think that might be why he liked me more."
Song Jong-kuk's camping car is said to be worth about 70 million won. While he is also a nature enthusiast, he is also a coach teaching youth soccer. After teaching the kids, Song Jong-kuk returned to the camping car and held a meat party with Leo to replenish their protein.
