The new ENA Monday-Tuesday drama 'The Defects,' directed by Oh Gi-hwan and written by Ahn So-jung, and produced by Group Eight and Take One Studio, depicts the harsh survival and revenge of children who barely survived after being abandoned by their adoptive parents and standing on the brink of death. It will premiere tomorrow, 4th (Mon) at 10 p.m.
'The Defects' is enhanced by the solid acting of actors like Yum Jung-ah, Won Jina, Choi Young-jun, and Kim Jin-young, adding a fast-paced narrative and a heavy message to the provocative theme of children being sold.
With just one day until the premiere, stills of Kim Se-hee (played by Yum Jung-ah), Kim Ah-hyun (played by Won Jina), Woo Tae-sik (played by Choi Young-jun), and the children have been released today (20th).
In the released stills, Se-hee captures attention with a strong presence, revealing an inscrutable gaze. Although outwardly she is a respected celebrity in the medical field, in reality, she is the actual leader of an illegal adoption trafficking organization. Her cold and ruthless presence as a genetic dictator raises curiosity about what she will do to the children.
Meanwhile, secret helper Woo Tae-sik is shown beginning training with the surviving children. As Joo-an (played by Ahn Ji-ho), So-mi (played by Lee Na-eun), and Seok-soo (played by Oh Seung-jun), among the 'refunded children,' all participate in training, an even more shocking scene captures Tae-sik aiming a gun at the children's leader, Ah-hyun, increasing the tension.
What could be the reason for Tae-sik to be so vigilant about the children's safety? Attention is focused on the story behind why they had no choice but to give up their ordinary lives and hide from society. The desperate struggle of children, who must endure on the border between death and survival, promises high engagement and suspense. The desires of adults who wanted only 'perfect children' raise strong issues from the very beginning and will draw viewers into the story.
