HYBE and Geffen Records' joint girl group KATSEYE is gaining steady popularity on the UK Official Chart and Spotify Global Chart.
According to the latest UK Official Chart announced on the 18th (local time) for July 18-24, KATSEYE's 'Gabriela' is ranked 83rd on the 'Official Singles Top 100', maintaining its position for four consecutive weeks. 'Gnarly' ranked 98th, setting a record for entering the chart for an impressive 11 consecutive weeks.
The presence of both songs is also evident on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform. In the 'Weekly Top Songs Global' for July 11-17, 'Gabriela' is ranked 26th, and 'Gnarly' is 100th, both entering the rankings for four weeks and 11 weeks, respectively.
'Gabriela' is a song that harmoniously blends sophisticated pop with acoustic guitar infused with Latin sensibilities, showcasing KATSEYE's sensual energy and newly deepened vocal prowess. 'Gnarly' impresses with a bold and innovative sound that incorporates dance and punk elements into the hyperpop genre. The fearless vocals of the six members (Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, Yoonchae), coupled with straightforward lyrics and dynamic performances, maximize the team's energy.
In particular, 'Gabriela' recently released a performance video that elicited a strong response from global fans. KATSEYE captivated audiences with delicate and appealing choreography infused with Latin elements such as flamenco, salsa, and tango. The video topped the 'YouTube Music Video Trending Worldwide' chart on the day of its release and achieved number one in 12 countries/regions, including the United States, Canada, Chile, Colombia, and Paraguay.
KATSEYE's second EP 'BEAUTIFUL CHAOS' includes five tracks in total: 'Gnarly', 'Gabriela', and the title tracks 'Gameboy', 'Mean Girls', and 'M.I.A'. This album entered the U.S. Billboard main album chart 'Billboard 200' at number 4 on July 12, recording its highest ranking, and maintained a position in the top tier at number 15 in the latest chart for July 19.
Expanding its presence in the global market beyond the United States, KATSEYE collaborated with the world's leading corporation Mattel's representative character brand 'Monster High', surprising fans by releasing a remix of the original song 'Fright Song' on the 17th. The music video features the six members transforming into different monster characters to express their individuality, and within just 16 hours of being uploaded to YouTube, it exceeded 1 million views, receiving a warm response.
