Songwriter Kim Ina is facing criticism for making rude remarks about the rookie co-ed group All Day Project (ALLDAY PROJECT) during a radio show.
On the broadcast of MBC Radio FM4U 'Kim Ina's Starry Night' (abbreviated as Starry Night), which aired on 16th, All Day Project members Annie, Tarzan, Bailey, Youngseo, and Woochan appeared as guests and shared their stories.
That day, the All Day Project members introduced their debut title songs 'FAMOUS' and 'WICKED', and spoke about their activities since debut. Kim Ina asked, "It's only been 24 days since your debut. How is it that the response is so fast? Doesn't that come off as cocky?" causing embarrassment for the rookie idol group.
Kim Ina also revealed her prejudice against co-ed groups. She stated, "To be honest, when I heard the term co-ed group, I honestly thought, 'Isn't being in a co-ed group tough?' This is a common sentiment, isn't it?"
He then acknowledged, "However, after seeing the stage, it became clear why they needed to be a co-ed group. The music genre is new, and the stage was incredibly appealing, completely outside of the concerns I had about co-ed groups." He added, "When I watched them perform, it felt like they had been active for a long time before coming to Korea. However, watching the broadcast, it does feel like they have not been active for long."
During the conversation, Kim Ina said, "From my deductions, Annie probably had the shortest trainee period. If allowed to state so," to which Annie replied, "This is my first time revealing it, but I was training even before receiving permission." Kim Ina responded, "So, you must not have had time to practice. Then, the stage could stand out with you alone. But it didn't, so I thought you must have originally been good at dancing."
Additionally, regarding Annie's motto, she said, "I choose a motto that fits the day, and today it is 'This too shall pass'." Kim Ina jokingly responded, "Does that mean you want 'Starry Night' to end quickly?" causing a moment of surprise in the studio.
Furthermore, concerning Tarzan's role as a 'troublemaker' in the team, Kim Ina queried, "That's not just said casually, right? Do you really get into trouble? Has that caused any incidents?" After Tarzan replied, "There hasn't been such an occasion," Kim Ina countered, "Then you're not really a troublemaker." Tarzan added, "I get into fun kinds of trouble in a good way."
Following the broadcast, criticism from netizens has continued regarding the radio video released. One netizen pointed out, "Beginning with 'Doesn't it come off as cocky?', the unnecessary discussion about the chairman, the preconceived notion about Annie, and the wording implying they thought she would stand out alone on stage. There's been so much discomfort regarding the language used towards Bailey, who seemed nervous on radio with limited experience. It's shocking that you wouldn't know Woochan, who has been quite famous through 'Show Me the Money' to this degree. Did you not do your homework?"
Other netizens also commented, "This feels more like an interview than a radio show. Even compliments seem evaluative," "The casual remarks felt very judgmental," "The members seemed bewildered," "It feels like there might be some animosity towards Teddy or All Day Project," "It was so rude that I turned it off, but from the comments, it seems I wasn't being oversensitive at all."
