The Defects raises expectations with the meeting of actress Yum Jung-ah and popular YouTuber Dex (real name Kim Jin-young).
On the 19th, the production team of the new ENA Monday-Tuesday drama 'The Defects' (written by Ahn So-jung, directed by Oh Ki-hwan) revealed a filming site just two days before its first airing, showcasing not only the actors' passion for acting but also the strong bond among the actors.
'The Defects' is an action thriller depicting the desperate survival and revenge of children who barely survived after being abandoned by their stepparents. The stills released among them vividly capture the behind-the-scenes moments of the main cast, including Yum Jung-ah (as Kim Se-hee), Won Jina (as Kim Ah-hyun), Choi Young-joon (as Woo Tae-sik), Kim Jin-young (as Jung Hyun), An Ji-ho (as Joo An), and Oh Seung-jun (as Seok Soo).
The actors' efforts to constantly review the script in order to create perfect scenes and their ongoing exchanges with the director and staff showcase their deep affection and immersion in the work. The teamwork that continues to bring laughter even in high-intensity filming adds to the anticipation for the narrative of 'The Defects.'
Particularly, focus is on Yum Jung-ah and Won Jina's performances, which captivate Monday-Tuesday nights with their detailed acting. Contrary to her charismatic character in the drama, Yum Jung-ah shows a charming contrast with a warm smile and relaxed demeanor on set. Won Jina takes on the role of a mood maker by capturing moments on camera and striking V poses.
Director Oh Ki-hwan noted, "The harmony of the children in 'The Defects' was of utmost importance to match the title," adding, "Initially, I worried about how well the actors would harmonize, but from their first meeting, it was remarkably harmonious." He continued, "Thanks to the actors working out together and exploring delicious restaurants during the local filming period, the atmosphere on set flowed positively. That warm teamwork was captured in every scene."
Stills capturing serious action choreography involving Won Jina, An Ji-ho, and Oh Seung-jun also draw attention. Won Jina, who revealed that dynamic action scenes are particularly memorable, shared, "I deeply remember gathering in the gym to practice for each scene. Thanks to this, a lot of trust was built among the actors, and we also formed bonds with the action actors, allowing us to depend on each other as if we were one body."
Rising star Kim Jin-young also demonstrates his presence as an actor through meticulous monitoring and constant practice, even when the cameras are off. His sincere action performance infuses even more vivacity into the 'Jung Hyun' character, ensuring that his presence as the lead in his first drama is firmly etched.
'The Defects' is set to premiere at 10 p.m. on the 21st on ENA and will also be available on Tving.
