Singer MC Mong revealed his health deterioration and severe depression and ultimately decided to study abroad. It has been about a month since he stepped down from his producer duties that he was in charge of.
Previously, in June, MC Mong was excluded from the operations of 100 Percent, which he led. According to the music industry on the 13th, he has reportedly withdrawn from company duties due to personal circumstances. The 100 Percent side also told OSEN that "MC Mong is currently excluded from company duties due to personal circumstances" and noted, "it's difficult to reveal specific reasons."
100 Percent is a label co-founded by MC Mong and Cha Ga-won, the chairman of PIARC Group, which includes artists such as The Boyz and Kim Dae-ho. It is also the parent company of Big Planet Made Entertainment and INB100.
About a month later, MC Mong recently broke his long silence through his social media and directly updated his fans. He stated, "Due to severe depression and health deterioration, it was difficult to do music," and added, "To continue making music for a longer time and for my own development, I decided to study abroad."
MC Mong did not hide his affection for the artists he worked with as a producer. He said, "The time spent with them felt like a dream. I still love and support them," and confessed, "I was worried about becoming a presence that dims their light and always felt heavy-hearted that I might be a burden to the fans." He continued, "They will shine even brighter in the future. I sincerely hope they will become even more wonderful artists alongside their fans."
Above all, his message to his fans was poignant. He mentioned, "My lifelong fans, Monkeyz, I will definitely release an album this year, and I will have a concert, which I might not do again, before I go study abroad," adding, "I was happy as a lyricist who has written for others, but I'm sorry that I realized too late that my music means everything to you."
In conclusion, he left a warm greeting, stating, "While I can't dry tomorrow's wet clothes with today's sun, I am happy because you are here to listen to my music tomorrow." Internet users responded warmly to MC Mong's sincere confession, saying, "I can't even imagine how hard it must have been for you; I hope you recover and come back soon," "MC Mong's music has always been my youth. Please take care of your health and I will wait for your album," and "I will look forward to the day we see you on stage again. We will always support you, Monkeyz."
Meanwhile, MC Mong expressed his determination to release an album within this year before studying abroad, hinting at another musical footprint.
