In KBS2's 'Boss's ears are donkey ears', Park Myung-soo meets with the representative of Duriland, Lim Chae-moo.
KBS 2TV 'Boss's ears are donkey ears' (directed by Ahn Sang-eun, hereafter 'Boss's ears') is a program of self-reflection and perspective-taking for bosses in South Korea to create a workplace that is enjoyable to work in. The viewership rating for the last episode was the highest at 7.7%, boasting an impressive rise as the number one entertainment program in the same time slot for 163 consecutive weeks. (according to Nielsen Korea)
The 315th episode of 'Boss's ears', airing on the 20th (Sunday), will feature Park Myung-soo's 'Walking to the Boss's House', which has become a hot topic in Changan. Lim Chae-moo, who has become an icon for children and an 'icon of debt', will reveal everything about the operation of Duriland.
Prior to this, Lim Chae-moo revealed that Duriland's total debt is 19 billion won, surprising Park Myung-soo. Park Myung-soo expressed concern, asking, 'How will you pay it back?' Lim Chae-moo then disclosed that the interest on the debt alone amounts to 80 million won a month, and the electricity bill is 30 million won, shocking everyone. When they all worried about the sustainability of this, Lim Chae-moo remarked, 'I used to go around nightclubs and after paying salaries, I would go around again to make it work,' adding, 'But these days, I've been cornered. All the nightclubs have disappeared. It's tough,' later revealing that the reason he could hold on for over 30 years was due to the income from the nightlife. He shared that 'now it's worse than during COVID. Daily sales are only 160,000 won and 320,000 won,' generating further worries.
In response, special MC Lee Yong-sik shared, 'Everyone advised against it. They strongly urged me to stop. But he is still doing it.' As part of this, Lim Chae-moo revealed that he had borrowed money from the late Lee Joo-il and Lee Yong-sik, disclosing that his daughter and son-in-law also contributed financially, creating a stir. Upon Lim Chae-moo's shocking revelation, Lee Yong-sik exclaimed, 'This cannot be broadcast. My wife doesn't even know I lent Lim Chae-moo money!' showing a flustered demeanor that brought laughter. Lee Yong-sik remarked, 'Back then, Lim Chae-moo worked at the same establishment as me. He was naturally quite reserved. He poured all the money he earned through hardship into this,' shaking his head in pity.
Lim Chae-moo stated, 'When children run up to me calling me 'uncle' and hug me, I forget all my worries,' sparking expectations that hope may bloom for Lim Chae-moo, who has been navigating the challenging reality for over 30 years to realize his dream.
The light and shadow of Lim Chae-moo investing all his resources during his prime into Duriland will be revealed through the main broadcast of 'Boss's ears'.
