In the program "My Precious Child," first grader Geumjok showed a strong attachment to her mother.
On the 18th, Channel A's "My Precious Child" featured a mother who returned from maternity leave in May of this year. She appeared flustered upon seeing Geumjok suddenly cling to her and refuse to separate.
In this household, the father had been the primary caregiver for the three siblings. Oh Eun-young noted, "Separation anxiety is the symptom of being unable to be apart from a trusted caregiver, someone perceived as an attachment figure. It is common until age 5, but beyond that, one should work on reducing anxiety and spending some time alone at this age," as she explained when the couple suspected 'separation anxiety'.
However, Dr. Oh Eun-young speculated that Geumjok was not experiencing separation anxiety. As soon as the mother mentioned she would go out briefly, Geumjok, who was playing well with her father, became extremely angry and cried, saying things like, "Dad, die," and "I will break the house."
Dr. Oh Eun-young explained, "It seems that she actually dislikes being away from her mother. Feeling anxious and feeling dislike are different emotions. She dislikes being apart from her mother, but when she is told to do something she dislikes, it makes her feel bad."
