Mnet's 'Boys Planet' contestant Kim Gun-woo has been embroiled in a personality controversy prior to its airing, but he appeared unedited in the first broadcast.
The first episode of Mnet's 'Boys 2 Planet,' aired on the 17th, portrayed the trainees showcasing their skills in the ranking decision battle for the first time. The rankings are all-star, two-star, and one-star, and after each mission, the lowest rank is immediately eliminated.
On that day, Kim Gun-woo participated in the survival program as an ordinary person from Jeonju without an agency. He revealed that he was previously with Source Music and CUBE Entertainment and performed 'SWEAT' by ZEROBASEONE. The judges who watched his performance praised him and selected him as an all-star.
There were no issues with the broadcast, but prior to the first episode, a disclosure about Kim Gun-woo emerged. The whistleblower, identified as A, stated on social media, "I am exposing the true nature and personality of Kim Gun-woo, known as the center of K Group on Boys 2 Planet. The reason for this post is that I believe it is important to inform the public about Kim Gun-woo's past mistakes, personality, and true nature to minimize potential harm to the program that will soon be aired, given that he is receiving great love as a representative idol trainee from Korea."
A alleged that Kim Gun-woo, when he was a trainee at B Entertainment about two years ago, received excessive favoritism from high-ranking employees and used this to ignore or bully both employees and trainees. It was disclosed that he even used harsh language and was involved in a controversy regarding score manipulation during monthly evaluations, shocking many. Trainees suffered from panic disorders, depression, anxiety disorders, and some are receiving psychiatric treatment and medication as a result.
Some trainees even left the company paying penalties, and A also disclosed his medical records due to being bullied by Kim Gun-woo. Along with this, the author published evidence including envelopes from B Entertainment, parts of the trainee contract, and conversations exchanged with officials related to Kim Gun-woo's appearance on 'Boys 2 Planet.'
As the controversy grew, an official from Mnet's 'Boys Planet' stated to OSEN, "The production team is aware of the seriousness of this matter and is currently verifying the facts regarding the allegations raised on social media."
He added, "We are gathering accurate information from the individuals mentioned in the post, as well as related individuals who worked at B Entertainment at the time, and separately reviewing any potential legal issues."
