"Reasonable Architecture - Space Traveler" Jun Hyun-moo and Hong Jin Kyung have become deeply immersed in architecture.
MBC's new educational program "Reasonable Architecture - Space Traveler" (abbreviated as "Reasonable Architecture") is set to broadcast its first episode at 9 p.m. on the 22nd, following favorable reviews from its four-part pilot broadcast. "Reasonable Architecture" is a new concept architectural talk show that unfolds stories crossing various fields such as history, culture, economy, art, and science through architecture. The "architecture journey" seeking the reasons for architecture is expected to provide viewers with unique enjoyment and beneficial knowledge.
Jun Hyun-moo, Hong Jin Kyung, Park Sun-young, and star architect Yoo Hyun-jun will come together as the MCs for "Reasonable Architecture." They shared how deeply they have become engrossed in architecture and how their perspectives on architecture have changed since the pilot broadcast.
First, Yoo Hyun-jun, the architect, expressed his feelings about the regular programming, saying, "This is the first program with 'architecture' in the title. I really like the title 'Reasonable Architecture' because it conveys the meaning of 'why that space was created, and architecture reflects various thoughts.' Recently, many people have become more interested in architecture as a way to express themselves by posting on social media about 'where they spend time.' The regular programming is thanks to the viewers. I'm happy that there is an architecture program that can be watched with joy and laughter."
Jun Hyun-moo stated, "My perspective on architectural structures has changed significantly since the pilot broadcast. The biggest change in my daily life is that now, when I look around, I ponder, 'Why was that building created?' Architecture becomes more interesting the more you know. I believe that 'Reasonable Architecture' has popular appeal and competitiveness, making it a program that people will like. I'm proud to be the MC of such a program."
Hong Jin Kyung revealed, "I have always been very interested in architecture, so learning about architects and architectural structures has been very enjoyable. While hosting this program, I realized that there are these amazing buildings not only in Korea but also close to me and even on the paths I used to pass by without meaning. This program is a win-win for me to study architecture while hosting. I'm so happy and want to continue it for a long time."
Park Sun-young said, "'Reasonable Architecture' seems to be liked by viewers because it can vividly convey the experience directly from home, even if I don't have unique architectural structures or hot spaces. A significant advantage of our program is that it allows viewers to learn more about the behind-the-scenes and stories of buildings that are not covered in the regular educational curriculum. I'm also very pleased that this momentum has led to the regular programming."
In particular, Jun Hyun-moo and Hong Jin Kyung shared their dreams regarding architecture and architectural travel. Jun Hyun-moo imagined, "If I really had a lot of money and could build a building, I would want to create a landmark building. Isn't it better for a space to hold special meaning than to be just an ordinary building among countless others? Since I come from an anchoring background, I could design a building for training announcers or broadcasters in the shape of a microphone (laughs)."
Hong Jin Kyung revealed her true self as an architectural enthusiast. She stated, "Before the regular programming, I traveled to Northern Europe and was impressed by visiting the home of the world-renowned architect Alvar Aalto from Finland. In fact, I am planning an 'architectural journey' to visit 'the father of modern architecture,' Le Corbusier, next year. Le Corbusier was born in Switzerland, but he has works in France, India, and others. Touring those places is truly one of the major items on my life's bucket list. Perhaps I could go there first through 'Reasonable Architecture'?"
Coincidentally, Jun Hyun-moo and Hong Jin Kyung have also attracted attention for owning expensive dwellings. The apartment in Samsung-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where Jun Hyun-moo reportedly resides, recorded a transaction price of 6.8 billion won, while Hong Jin Kyung is known to be living in a three-story detached dwelling in Pyeongchang-dong, Jongno-gu, famous for its affluent neighborhoods. In this way, it remains to be seen whether veteran MCs can spark interest in 'architecture' itself in a Korean market where real estate tends to overshadow architecture.
