Yubi Bibim, who gained recognition by participating in the cooking competition show "Culinary Class Wars," has published a book. This comes eight months after admitting to illegal business operations.
On the 16th, Yubi Bibim announced through his social media (SNS), "Thanks to the support of our guests, we published a book on June 25," and added, "One day of bibimbap, 100 years of Yubi Bibim, and 1,000 years of bibim literature. In the era of 21st-century bibim culture, we will create a bibim world of coexistence, harmony, and integration innovatively with bibim characters."
He also noted, "Over the past 10 months, I have reflected on my life and my 20 years with bibim, taking time for introspection and self-examination," and expressed, "I sincerely apologize to those who were hurt due to my shortcomings." He added, "In the future, I will meet you with world-class bibim content."
Yubi Bibim gained fame by appearing on the Netflix original program "Culinary Class Wars: Cooking Class Wars." He suspended his activities last November after admitting to illegal business operations at a restaurant. Yubi Bibim was indicted for conducting illegal business without reporting to the local government (violation of the Food Sanitation Act) and was sentenced to eight months in prison in 2015, which was later reduced to probation on appeal. Additionally, he rented state-owned land for an annual lease amount of only 980,000 won.
At that time, he said, "I deeply reflected and closed the store for a year. However, out of necessity, I registered as a business operator for performances, exhibitions, and Korean cuisine experiences under my wife's name, illegally operating until recently. I earnestly appealed to public institutions and the Regulatory Reform Committee to relax the regulations to run a restaurant confidently, but the obstacles were too great for me to realize my intentions."
