Yumeki, a dancer and choreographer who participated as part of the One Million Crew in 'Street Man Fighter,' appeared as a contestant in 'Boys Planet.'
On the 17th, Mnet's survival program 'Boys Planet K' aired its first broadcast. This season of 'Boys Planet' is divided into two teams, Planet K and Planet C, where each engages in fierce competition, and only those who prove their value will have the opportunity to compete for debut in 'Boys Planet.'
The broadcast that day featured a rank determination round for the Planet K participants. Ranks are divided into All-Star, Two-Star, and One-Star, and the lowest rank is eliminated immediately after each mission. In the rank determination round, each participant receives their rank through team battle stages, and those deemed ineligible to receive a rank by the master will be eliminated immediately as 'No Star.'
Towards the end of the broadcast, Yumeki, a contestant from Yokohama, caught attention. His appearance stirred excitement in the venue. This was due to his active involvement as a dancer, having already created choreography for famous idols. Dance master Kinky noted, "He is such a well-known dancer, so active in the K-pop scene that it is hard to imagine it without him. I was surprised to meet him like this. I wonder what motivated him to apply here."
Yumeki explained during the preliminary audition, "I have been dancing for over 10 years, and I have been active as a choreographer and dancer for 5 years. I have worked on choreography for The Boyz, SHINee, ITZY, and TWS, and recently I am working on choreography for TXT and ILLIT."
He explained, "I participated in a survival program with Master Back Kooyoung. While doing 'Street Man Fighter,' I lived with him almost every day. I spent more time with him than with my family. As a senior, he gave me good feedback about my future and what I want to do. It seems to have been a great help."
Regarding his reason for appearing on 'Boys Planet,' he shared, "I have dreamed of being an idol since I was young. But after becoming a dancer and seeing the singers up close, I feel envy and wonder why I can't do it. Isn't this what I want to do?"
He said that this was the first time he practiced singing for the audition, stating, "I'm completely new to singing, so I realize I can't do it much." He added, "Dancing while singing is definitely challenging. I sang for the first time because of the audition. I was worried, but I wanted to show my best side, so I learned to sing from scratch. I don't think there will be another opportunity like this. I want to seize this good opportunity and want to go all the way without regrets."
Dance master Back Kooyoung encouraged, "I really respect Meki; he is our younger brother. He is a dancer and choreographer. If Meki survives here and progresses to the next round, it would feel strange and good. I think it would feel nice."
He revealed, "I had no idea Yumeki was participating. I found out when he came here." Kinky also mentioned, "We worked together until recently, and he had not said anything at all." Lim Han-byeol expressed concern, saying, "But the singing… this is for selecting singers," while Yumeki performed his prepared stage for 'Rainism.'
However, after receiving his rank following the stage, Yumeki expressed, "My pride was really hurt. I realized I was not up to standard and was lacking much. Why did I come to this place?" showing his bowed head which added to the curiosity.
