Jackson Wang, a member of the group GOT7, released his second studio album 'MAGIC MAN 2' on the 18th simultaneously worldwide. This new album is a follow-up to 'MAGIC MAN,' released in 2022, and features a more mature musical world and an exploration of inner narratives.
'MAGIC MAN 2' is an album that combines Jackson's unique luxurious sound production and performance, showcasing a multi-layered sound that organically blends rock, pop, and electronic elements. In particular, this album captures a deeper self-exploration and emotional amplitude than its predecessor, showing that Jackson is evolving as an artist. At the same time, through this work, he aimed to write songs purely for himself, honestly expressing emotions and thoughts about reality, society, humanity, and the music industry as a person rather than an artist.
This album demonstrates Jackson's journey in confronting and healing his inner turmoil through the persona of 'MAGIC MAN,' consisting of four chapters that follow the emotional flow of denial, loss, insight, and healing, articulating the most honest and vulnerable feelings through music. Jackson noted, "We all grow by experiencing our own 'MAGIC MAN'," expressing his desire for listeners to share in the emotions and healing he is experiencing, beyond just being a piece of work.
Debuting as a member of GOT7, Jackson has also made his mark in the fields of music, design, and fashion, working as a multi-creator. He has been proving his capabilities as a creative director while leading his own label, Team Wang Records, and fashion brand, Team Wang Design. At the end of June, he partnered with Pharrell Williams' Billionaire Boys Club (BBC) to unveil the 'Life is a Race' capsule collection, which reinterprets motorsport culture into modern streetwear. His unique aesthetic and style are infused throughout 'MAGIC MAN 2.'
Having established himself as a global artist, Jackson Wang has contributed to the global expansion of K-pop as a member of GOT7, and he has built his own musical world across various markets, including the United States, Europe, and China, through solo activities. Notably, 'Magic Man,' released in 2022, recorded a peak position of 15 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Meanwhile, with the release of 'MAGIC MAN 2,' Jackson is also planning a new world tour, as his previous 'MAGIC MAN WORLD TOUR' sold out across more than 30 cities, including North America, Europe, and Asia, and the upcoming tour is generating high expectations from global fans.
