When 'Radio Star' Lee Hong-ki was mentioned about his past romantic rumors with a top model from Japan, he was flustered.
On the 16th broadcast of MBC's entertainment show 'Radio Star' (hereinafter 'Ras'), in a special feature titled 'World Class, You Only See Me~', Lee Hong-ki was depicted clarifying the romantic rumors while appearing alongside Jang Keun-suk, Lee Hong-ki, Subin, and Kim Shin-young.
That day, Lee Hong-ki attracted attention by mentioning that he was selected as one of the 10 Koreans that Japanese people dislike the most, including himself, Kim Yuna, Samsung's late chairman Lee Kun-hee, and Ahn Jung-geun.
Regarding his selection, Lee Hong-ki explained, "Am I being too honest in my reviews on Japanese broadcasts? There was a segment on comparing food in entertainment shows, asking which looks more expensive, and I guessed it right as soon as I tasted it. I said, 'Why does this look cheap?' so it was made in Japan. I commented that it was too thick and tasted bad."
Jang Keun-suk, who had been trying to suppress a laugh, revealed, "This is just an excuse, and the romantic rumors blew up," catching Lee Hong-ki off guard.
Lee Hong-ki had romantic rumors in 2015 with a top-class star from Japan, during which he drew the line by saying they were 'friends.' Lee Hong-ki stammered, saying, "I didn't know about that. I didn't know that friend was so popular in Korea. There were so many. She's a gravure model named Aiai Shinozaki."
Hearing this, Kim Gook-jin laughed, saying, "If we hadn't talked about it, I would have thought it was because of the pancake," and Lee Hong-ki lamented, "We shouldn't go about it this way." Nevertheless, Jang Keun-suk emphasized, "He seemed to be writing a drama by himself. It's the first time I've heard of 'jijimi' (pancake)."
In response, Lee Hong-ki said, "At that time, I overcame the romantic rumor on January 1st," and added, "I can tell you the facts accurately. It was not a romantic rumor back then." This statement reignited the rumors.
When the MCs pressed, "What about now?" Lee Hong-ki clarified, "Tomodachi (friend)." Jang Keun-suk added, "The ripple effect is so big that comments are still coming in. They say, 'Lee Hong-ki is fine because he has that friend.'"
Meanwhile, during his previous appearance, he confessed about a boil. Lee Hong-ki mentioned, "Thanks to that, good things happened," revealing he was appointed as the ambassador for pyogenic granuloma.
He also stated, "There is now an official title," and explained, "Many people don't know about pyogenic granuloma and feel embarrassed themselves, so they try not to let it be known outside. I've had it since middle school. I've soaked my school uniform. I kept trying to endure it, but I couldn't do anything about it, so I would just sit sideways on a chair. If I sat wrong, it would pop out."
He continued, "I've had about 8 surgeries. This is like a pit of ants. If you don't catch it early, the bacteria will spread to other tissues. If you don't completely remove the pus, it will relapse. It hurts even when it heals."
Currently, he is not fully cured but fortunately, the frequency of occurrences has decreased. Lee Hong-ki commented, "I heard that it disappears when men reach their 30s or 40s as male hormones drop. I haven't had it lately. I don't know if that's good or bad, but I haven't had it lately."
