Actor Jeong Ga-eun candidly shared the struggles of living as a single mom.
On the 17th, the MBN entertainment program 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi' released a preview video titled 'Actor Jeong Ga-eun, couldn't even buy a cake for her daughter because she had no money?!' The video features the cast discussing the hardships they faced in their later years.
Jeong Ga-eun shared, 'Last summer, my income was very low. I can go without what I want to wear, but I want to buy everything my daughter says she wants to eat.' She continued, 'But when I went to a café with my daughter and her friend, I couldn't readily buy two slices of cake.'
She further confessed, 'I felt so sorry for hesitating over a few thousand won, and that moment was truly heartbreaking.' Kim Hyun-sook, who heard the story, deeply empathized, saying, 'Not having a choice is the saddest part.'
Jeong Ga-eun also added that she had not been able to properly rest despite being in pain. She said, 'Since last year, my back and wrists have been very painful. I receive treatment at the hospital, but sometimes I wish I could get a massage.' She continued, 'In the past, after work, I would get a massage and go home to rest, but now I can't go because I feel it's a waste of money. Even though I'm in so much pain, I can't go, which makes it even more heartbreaking.'
Meanwhile, Jeong Ga-eun made her debut as a model in 1997 and has been active in various entertainment programs.
She married in 2016 but divorced after a year, and is currently raising her daughter alone. Recently, she confessed her financial hardships, obtained a taxi driving license, and announced her challenge to become a part-time taxi driver, receiving support.
