SEVENTEEN member Seungkwan participated in a public service advertisement to promote his hometown of Jeju through a talent donation.
Seungkwan appeared in the 'Promise with Jeju' campaign advertisement posted on the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province YouTube channel on the 17th. The video will be broadcast nationwide starting on the 18th, as well as on outdoor billboards in Jeju and Seoul. Voice ads can also be heard on the radio.
This campaign advertisement was created to convey the right values of Jeju travel and sustainable travel culture. Seungkwan's unique bright and positive energy combined with Jeju's scenery added vitality. Seungkwan, who has shown a special love for his hometown, split his busy schedule to participate in the filming.
Seungkwan said, "I am grateful and honored to be able to contribute to showcasing Jeju's true beauty and value to the world" and noted, "I will always support the city in its leap to become a place where the environment and tourism coexist harmoniously."
Seungkwan has been engaging in various charitable activities for his hometown. Last month, he donated 20 million won to the Korea Heritage Service and the Cultural Heritage National Trust, asking them to use it to protect Jeju's precious heritage. Appointed as a promotional ambassador for Jeju in November of last year, he also contributed to the protection of the endangered Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin by donating to the Jeju provincial government.
Additionally, while attending the '13th UNESCO Youth Forum' held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, in 2023, Seungkwan drew attention by noting that Jeju is the first region in the world to be designated by UNESCO in three natural environmental institutional sectors simultaneously. The group he belongs to, SEVENTEEN, was the first K-pop artist to receive a solo special session at this event and was appointed as UNESCO's first youth goodwill ambassador last year, taking the lead in social contribution activities.
