Scientist Jang Dong-seon emphasized the alarm regarding the AI era.
On the 16th, neuroscientist Jang Dong-seon was granted on tvN's "You Quiz on the Block" (hereafter referred to as You Quiz).
Jang Dong-seon said, "When I travel a lot, I have 1,000 schedules in a year. The topic that is often inquired about these days is the AI era." Yoo Jae-suk empathized, saying, "While artificial intelligence provides conveniences, there is a concern that our brains might deteriorate." Jang explained, "The important thing is humanity. How should our brains coexist? I'm raising the topic about this."
Jang Dong-seon stated, "The most common phrase I use when giving lectures is 'According to research.' This increases credibility. When I attached 'according to neuroscience research' to fake news and nonsensical claims, people began to believe it." Jang added, "We need to be cautious. Doesn't it seem that everything the experts say is correct? In the future, people will think, 'Since the AI said it, it must be true.'"
Yoo Jae-suk asked, "Is there an influence of AI on children?" Jang Dong-seon answered, "Children before adolescence tend to perceive AI as a living being. This is a period where their ability to distinguish between what is real and what is fake is underdeveloped. It can be dangerous as they disclose personal information, like that of their parents. If a bad developer uses this information with ill intent, there is a possibility of being dominated or manipulated."
Jang Dong-seon warned, saying, "A world may come where AI does all labor, production, and creation. Predictions suggest that AI will surpass human intelligence and abilities by at least 2049."
Jang Dong-seon remarked that he is from a generation that learned relationships online. He said, "I was born in Germany, and people would ask, 'Where are you from?' However, when I came to Korea, they said, 'Did you eat foreign food? Why do you talk and express differently?' School life was hard. I faced school violence and bullying. I did homeschooling, which was unfamiliar at the time. To people back then, I was seen as a 'problem child.'"
He continued, "Later, my mother began to fall ill. As she became mentally distressed, she made drastic attempts involving me. She started exhibiting erratic behaviors. There were times she locked me in a room and either set fire or suggested we take pills to die together. Eventually, I ran away from home and lived on the streets. The only thing that opened up relationships for me was PC communication and the Internet."
