Comedian Mija expressed her gratitude to Park Narae.
On the 16th, a video titled "Mija's tumultuous life from three years of depression to the goddess of drinking broadcasts (Jang Young-ran's tears, Mija's tavern, comedian Kim Tae-hyun)" was posted on the YouTube channel 'A-class Jang Young-ran.'
On that day, Mija revealed that after six years of preparing to be an announcer and failing to make it through the KBS public recruitment, she became a comedian through MBC public recruitment after a series of twists and turns, but she could not last long. She said, "It wasn't a place for me. And the discipline was so harsh that I couldn't endure it. Almost half of them quit, and I was the last to leave."
Hearing this, Jang Young-ran asked, "How hard was it to have discipline at such a young age? What were you thinking at that time?" Suddenly overwhelmed with memories, Mija could not continue speaking, and Jang Young-ran comforted her by saying, "You are here because you endured all of that. Aren't you living the happiest life now?"
Mija especially revealed, "Suddenly, depression hit me. I really worked hard. I did so in school, and I received scholarships, ranking in the top 1 or 2 in college. While my friends were out having fun and dating in their twenties, I was continuously preparing to be an announcer, studying seven times as hard and living like crazy."
She continued, "My friends got jobs, got married, and were happy, but I had nothing left. I had no friends and didn't go outside for about three years. I stayed in my room, and my parents were very troubled. I was very unfilial. At that time, I could only think about dying. That's how it was back then." This confession surprised Jang Young-ran.
What helped her endure the three years of depression was none other than Park Narae. Mija stated, "In the early years, I was in a state where I couldn't do anything, and later, thinking that I had to live, I worked part-time at a bar. The company recommended 'Drip Girls' to me. I had too many scars from broadcasting and didn't want to meet anyone in the field anymore, so I declined, but since there was a contract period left, I ended up doing it."
Mija met Narae while working on 'Drip Girls' and said, "Our family considers Narae a benefactor. In broadcasting, famous people talk to each other, and groups naturally form. So wherever I go, it's my daily life, but Narae was close to senior Gukju and Doyeon, someone I didn't know was there, and she constantly called me 'sister' and invited me to her home."
She continued, "(Narae) knew that I had depression. She kept calling me and said, 'You can't be alone.' So back then, even for Narae, it was a tough time. I still haven't met anyone like her in broadcasting. She took me in, cooked for me with her own money, and even sent over everything from her home's refrigerator, including her kimchi refrigerator, as gifts."
