Professor Park Kyu-joo said, "The number of colon cancer patients has recently increased significantly. No matter how small the probability is, when it hits you, everything is 100%. If it is possible to help within a range that does not harm the patient, I will do my best to extend their life."
Regarding the causes of colon cancer, Professor Park Kyu-joo stated, "The mutation must be appropriate for the colon to move. Processed and instant food allows mutations to linger in the intestines for a long time. The time that carcinogenic substances accumulate increases, raising the probability of developing colon cancer. Eating dietary fiber can lower the risk of cancer. If there is adult syndrome, it can trigger carcinogenesis."
Also about colon cancer symptoms, he said, "The right colon begins to make stool when liquid stool comes from the small intestine. If cancer develops in the right colon, symptoms are difficult to detect. It often goes unnoticed. If cancer develops in the left colon, symptoms like constipation occur. If cancer occurs in the rectum, there are problems with the storage and excretion functions of stool. Just a little stool makes one feel the urge to defecate, and there can be symptoms of difficulty in defecation or blood in the stool. As the tumor grows larger, anemia can also occur."
Professor Park Kyu-joo asked Yoo Jae-seok and Cho Sae-ho if they had undergone colon cancer screenings, and both said they had. Professor Park expressed gratitude saying, "Thank you," and Yoo Jae-seok appeared embarrassed as he mentioned receiving praise for having undergone the colon cancer screening. Cho Sae-ho went a step further, boasting, "I even have a colonoscopy without sedation."
Although Professor Park Kyu-joo used a gentle speaking style, he is referred to as 'Park Ho-tong' among his patients. Yoo Jae-seok said, "When I touched his stomach and he was overweight, there were times when the bed was empty during night rounds, and I asked questions, I heard he would raise his voice then." Professor Park explained, "I raise my voice significantly for overweight individuals. The reason I raise my voice during rounds is that I feel disappointed not seeing their faces."
