CJ ENM's music channel Mnet is introducing a male singer group debut project program 'Boys 2 Planet' that will take place in Korea and China. This program depicts the journey of about 160 participants aiming for debut, divided into 'K Planet' and 'C Planet.'
On the morning of the 16th, a production presentation for 'Boys 2 Planet' was held at The Saint in Seoul. Chief Producer Kim Shin-young, Director Jung Woo-young, and Director Ko Jeong-gyeong attended to introduce the program's direction. Additionally, 'K Master' Lee Seok-hoon, Kinky, and Kani participated in evaluating and guiding the contestants. For 'C Master,' Kim Jaejoong, Xiaoting, and Jrick were present. The common masters include Lim Han-byeol, Hyolyn, Back Kooyoung, and Justdis.
'Boys 2 Planet' is the new season of the 'Planet' series, which produced the female group Kep1er and the male group ZEROBASEONE. It serves as a follow-up program to 'Boys Planet,' which created the group ZEROBASEONE in 2023, dividing the Korean participants into 'K Group' and the overseas participants into 'G Group' for auditions.
This time, 'Planet K' will focus on Korean participants, while 'Planet C' will consist of Chinese participants. Ultimately, the two teams will be integrated to complete the debut group. 'Boys 2 Planet K' will debut on the 17th, and 'Boys 2 Planet C' will debut on the 18th. While C Planet is produced in Chinese, it does not only include participants of Chinese nationality.
Singer Lee Seok-hoon, participating as a K Master, said, "K-pop is continuously evolving, and while I may not be of help, I feel proud and respect the young friends. It's important to have one's own musical identity. I wanted to instill this identity by affirming that what you are doing right now is correct."
Singer Kim Jaejoong, participating as a C Planet master, noted, "There were more inexperienced individuals in C Planet than in K. Many friends who do not fully understand their own individuality and charm might have been relatively abundant, so we worked on bringing that out."
Singer Hyolyn, serving as a common master, said, "Seeing the participants improve little by little since the first time I saw them made me think, 'This is why survival programs allow for quicker growth.' I am grateful to be able to support them."
Chief Producer Kim Shin-young emphasized, "We have always regarded global scalability as a differentiating point. We started with two programs, K, which is produced in Korean, and C, which is produced in Chinese. This is a significant advancement in global scalability."
