Singer and actor Lee Hong-gi will appear on 'Radio Star' and cheerfully share the struggles of the original Hallyu band. Marking his 20th anniversary debut, he will reveal heartfelt stories from his battle with 'buttock abscess' after undergoing multiple surgeries to behind-the-scenes insights into rock festival planning.
Tonight (16th), MBC's 'Radio Star' (planned by Kang Young-sun, directed by Kim Myung-yeob, Hwang Yoon-sang, and Byun Da-hee) features a special segment 'World Class, You Can Only See Me~' with Jang Geun-suk, Lee Hong-gi, Subin, and Kim Shin-young.
Lee Hong-gi noted, "I suffered from suppurative hidradenitis from childhood and had eight surgeries," candidly discussing the complex he developed from the illness and the process of overcoming it. He added, "Thanks to that, I became an ambassador for skin disease awareness."
Regarding comments that he resembles Jang Geun-suk, he humorously said, "If I'm tall, I'm Jang Geun-suk; if I sing well, I'm me," drawing laughter from the cast. He recalled an incident where he candidly evaluated Japanese food on a Japanese broadcast, leading to him ranking low in popularity, saying, "There was controversy among fans after that broadcast." Jang Geun-suk, his close friend, revealed the 'real reason' he became unpopular, stating, "These are all just extra explanations."
Lee Hong-gi introduced the YouTube cover project 'Monthly FT,' stating, "I personally plan and shoot videos every month." The cover song 'Fleet at a Gallop' attracted attention with around 5 million views, and he added, "It's more precious because it's a product of collaboration with fans."
He expressed his love for band music, stating, "I want to create my own rock festival," igniting enthusiasm at the venue. He also threw a cool remark towards his agency, saying, "If you're going to help, help me out for real," generating laughter.
