Onew will release his second full-length album 'PERCENT' today at 6 p.m. through various music streaming sites. This marks Onew's return about five months after the release of his fourth mini album 'CONNECTION' in January.
The title track 'ANIMALS' is a track capturing the moment of instinctual liberation, featuring a cleanly refined bass line and acoustic guitar sounds that form the heart of the song. The synths develop like a rush, encouraging a surrender to sensation, while FX sounds reminiscent of animal cries add intuitive energy. In particular, Onew infuses dynamic tension throughout the song through a constantly changing narrative rather than simple repetition.
The music video released alongside the music contains Onew's unique cry that surpasses the boundaries of reason and judgment and awakens dormant instincts. While everyone typically lives without revealing their true nature, Onew expresses a desire for them to act freely and feel happiness when the full moon rises.
Additionally, 'PERCENT' includes 'Silky,' which weaves fluid sounds centered around the theme of laziness and rest; 'Caffeine,' which offers intense addictiveness through unique harmonic textures; 'Marshmallow,' which expresses the sensation of falling in love through sound; 'Confidence,' symbolically depicting the inner rhythm of Onew who moves steadily amidst uncertainty; and '오래 OKㅋ,' humorously delivering small yet certain comfort in repetitive daily life.
Next, the song 'Far Away' sharply highlights the desire to escape from tangled chaos through contrasting sounds; 'MAD' delicately captures the temperature difference of emotions, reflecting on the recurring feelings of parting; 'PERCENT (%),' which unravels a spectrum of complex emotions through experimental sounds; 'Epilogue,' which leads the narrative of the song with candid vocals without exaggeration; and 'Happy Birthday,' which conveys hope for new beginnings while expressing that every moment has been blessed, totaling 11 tracks that constantly mutate within a rich blend of genres.
The second full-length album 'PERCENT' is Onew's record of being emptied, filled, and completed. Onew fills 100% through complementary relationships with countless things encountered while living in the world. It contains a belief that while he can never be complete alone, imperfect beings are beautiful in their own right. Onew directly participated in the overall song production, proving his evolved musical capabilities.
