The queen of discernment, Kim Nam-joo, visited the home of Lee Seo-hyun, the representative of an Italian furniture import brand, to express her admiration.
The 10th episode of SBS Life's 'The queen of discernment, Kim Nam-joo' featured Kim Nam-joo's virtual housewarming. Kim Nam-joo noted, "This is the home of Lee Si-hyun, an Italian high-end brand. It's such an extraordinary house that even when magazines requested to feature it, we declined, but our channel granted permission." She mentioned that "everyone enjoyed our home tour, and I believe they will really like it today as well," heightening the viewers' anticipation.
The grand exterior of the mansion gives off a modern gallery vibe, including a gallery house within the main estate. The first floor, connecting the living room, dining room, and kitchen, was like a museum in itself.
The 'Noire' shelf by Charlotte Perriand, vintage yet stylish, adorned the living room wall, much to Kim Nam-joo's excitement. Representative Lee Si-hyun shyly laughed and said, "This product was auctioned off ten years ago and hasn't appeared since. I even participated in the auction myself." The piece was designed by French designer Charlotte Perriand, who also designed a shelf for GD's bedroom. For reference, GD's shelf is said to be priced at 71 million won.
Kim Nam-joo cheered upon seeing a small stool. The 'Burger Stool' by Charlotte Perriand, designed in the 1950s, costs 20 million won. Kim Nam-joo remarked, "It looks uncomfortable, but it's actually very comfortable," while Representative Lee Si-hyun replied, "Stop mentioning the price," looking embarrassed.
Next, Kim Nam-joo visited the guest room, outdoor hot tub, and gym room. From Jean Prouvé's standard dining chair to Mimmo Paladino and Daniel Buren's signature patterns, as well as Anthony Hawkin's works, the house was filled with pieces Representative Lee Si-hyun lovingly curated.
The outdoor garden, comprised of glass crafts and a glass table by renowned ceramic artist Shin Sang-ho, along with designer chairs and sculptural pieces, was breathtakingly beautiful. Kim Nam-joo expressed her admiration for the view of the mountains. When she reached the basement storage, she was thrilled to be offered a table worth 10 million won for 1.5 million won, exclaiming in joy.
Representative Lee Si-hyun explained, "This table is actually worth nearly 10 million won. How about around 1.5 million won? At this height, it's fine, and the more you use it, the better it gets," sharing her tips. Before being offered to purchase the piece, Kim Nam-joo shared, "I really liked these kinds of pieces. As you can see, my house isn't that spacious. Therefore, I couldn't just keep everything. That's why I've kept only the essentials," expressing her regret over her mansion in Pyeongchang-dong, estimated at 17 billion won, while also revealing her excitement.
Representative Lee Si-hyun continued, "I am 71 years old. I could simply live quietly, so why would I expose my house? But Nam-joo is like family to me. She's become my best friend, like family, and I don't mind showing her this house. That's why I decided to show it to her for the first time," touching hearts with her sincerity.
