HYBE Latin America's next-generation global boy group project 'SANTOS BRAVOS' will unveil next month. With the successful journey of the girl group KATSEYE, which debuted in the United States last year, HYBE has proven the possibility of 'globalizing the K-pop production system' and is expected to once again lead changes in the global music market.
According to HYBE Latin America on the 10th, a reality series called 'SANTOS BRAVOS' that selects a new boy idol group will be revealed through official SNS channels in August. The reality series will feature 16 participants of various nationalities from Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Peru, Spain, and the United States. Chosen from hundreds of applicants who previously auditioned, they will join a customized camp to receive concentrated training in music, emotional expression, and stage performance. The final members who will debut as the team named after the series, 'SANTOS BRAVOS,' will be five, and their growth stories will be closely watched by music fans around the world.
On this day, teaser videos were also released along with profile images of the 16 participants on official SNS channels. Participants with diverse national and cultural backgrounds are depicted sweating together in the same space to achieve their 'dreams.' Attention is focused on how these individuals with different personalities and charms will challenge themselves towards a single goal and how they will change and progress with support from the global mentoring team.
'SANTOS BRAVOS' is a large-scale project that introduces HYBE's systematic artist discovery and nurturing system to Latin America for the first time. Designed and globalized by HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, this system focuses on nurturing global artists with internal growth and cultural identity by combining thorough training, emotional support, narrative building, and community engagement. Bang Si-hyuk noted, "Our goal is not simply to create a group, but to help young Latin artists experience genuine change both artistically and personally," emphasizing that "in that sense, 'SANTOS BRAVOS' is a project of authenticity, emotions, and consolidation."
Creative professionals are joining the project in large numbers, increasing expectations. Kenny Ortega, the director and choreographer known for Disney's popular series 'High School Musical' and 'Descendants,' will serve as the creative director overseeing the project. Additionally, hitmaker Johnny Goldstein, who has worked with Shakira, BTS J-Hope, and ENHYPEN, is participating as the main music producer. Vocal training will be led by RAab Stevenson, a vocal coach who has collaborated with Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, and SZA, while Jaime Escallón, a veteran creator from Colombia known for producing 'The X Factor' and 'Survivor,' will serve as the overall producer leading the project.
Meanwhile, HYBE Latin America is currently conducting another large-scale project, the band selection audition 'Pase A La Fama,' in collaboration with the Spanish-language broadcaster Telemundo, a subsidiary of NBCUniversal in the U.S., which was planned on the 8th of last month. This audition program ranked first in Spanish-language broadcasting viewership in its time slot according to Nielsen ratings. It has made a pleasing start, with an average of 200,000 adult viewers aged 18-49 and reaching a total audience of 688,000.
