The global entertainment service Netflix series 'Trigger' features Kim Nam-gil and Kim Young-kwang confronting a life-threatening situation.
Set to release on July 25, the Netflix series 'Trigger' is a gun disaster action thriller depicting the story of two men who take up arms for their own reasons, as illegal firearms of unknown origin are delivered and gun incidents continuously occur in the gun-free country of South Korea. In a chaotic world where safety mechanisms are removed, incidents that trigger people's inner turmoil and dynamic gun action provide thrilling tension. The intriguing setting, combined with the meeting of Kim Nam-gil and Kim Young-kwang, who are known as masters of action thrillers, is generating anticipation.
Amid this, the precarious gaze of Lee Do (played by Kim Nam-gil) in the released main poster piques curiosity. His shocked expression, as if confronted with an unexpected crisis, heightens interest in the story that is about to unfold. Most notably, the scene of a gun with smoke rising right after someone pulls the trigger, alongside the dangerous assumption that 'if everyone has a gun in their hands,' tightly pulls the tension.
The main trailer released alongside heralds a new world has arrived in 'gun-free country' South Korea. The remark, "It's a relief that there are no guns in Hell Joseon," is rendered meaningless as intense gunfire echoes, and victims begin to emerge from shootings. The bigger problem is that there are people who want guns. Illegal firearms disguised as deliveries are discovered, and Lee Do begins to trace the truth related to this.
In the midst of an unpredictable crisis, Lee Do encounters a mysterious man, Moon Baek (played by Kim Young-kwang), who claims to have come to retrieve a delivery. Moon Baek shares a clue related to the case, saying, "A few days ago, I received a delivery box that contained a bullet and an address book." Thus, Lee Do teams up with Moon Baek to investigate the case. At the same time, deliveries begin to arrive for those desiring guns. Following the image of Gu Jeong-man (played by Park Hoon), who is holding a gun and declaring that the 'opportunity' has come, a huge sum of money circulates among suspicious individuals, bringing chaos to a world that was once far removed from firearms. It raises the question of whether Lee Do and Moon Baek can track down the source distributing illegal weapons and what choices the individuals facing guns will make.
Director Kwon Oh-seung, who is responsible for the direction and script of 'Trigger,' noted, "'Trigger' changes its usage and meaning, as well as the situation unfolding, depending on who the gun meets and who wields it. It's not about 'how to shoot the gun' but about 'who had to wield the gun and why,' which is the charm of 'Trigger.'" Co-director Kim Jae-hoon explained, "'Trigger' tells the story of people who ended up holding guns for their own reasons in a society rife with hatred and conflict, those who seek to place guns in their hands, and those who wish to take guns away from people's hands," adding to the anticipation for the project.
The Netflix series 'Trigger' will be released worldwide exclusively on Netflix on July 25.
