Sixteen artists and producers from HYBE Music Group will join the Recording Academy® as members.
The Recording Academy invited on the 9th (local time) rapper BUMZU, ZICO, SEVENTEEN's Woozi and Vernon, TOMORROW X TOGETHER's Yeonjun, ENHYPEN's Jungwon, LE SSERAFIM's Heo Yunjin, KATSEYE, along with producers Slow Rabbit, Supreme Boi, and Wonderkid as new voting members.
The Recording Academy is a prestigious organization of music professionals that represents the voices of artists, songwriters, producers, engineers, and more in the music industry. Established in 1957, it has been hosting the Grammy Awards since 1959. Voting members can participate in the selection of Grammy Award winners. The voting rights of new members will be granted starting from the 68th Grammy Awards scheduled for February 1 of next year. Various events will be held for Recording Academy members, providing opportunities to share opinions.
Artists and producers from HYBE Music Group have driven the quantitative and qualitative growth of K-pop based on their outstanding musicality. BUMZU, who debuted as a singer-songwriter, has produced hit songs for various artists, including SEVENTEEN, and swept the public sector categories for lyrics, composition, and arrangement at the 11th Korea Music Copyright Association Copyright Awards. ZICO, active as both an artist and producer, is recognized as a 'top-tier musician' with both popularity and artistry, leading trends with numerous successful songs such as 'SPOT! (feat. JENNIE)' and 'Any Song.'
Woozi and Vernon have been actively collaborating with both domestic and international artists, continuing vigorous creative activities, including work on SEVENTEEN's albums. They have registered over 200 and 100 works, respectively, with the Korea Music Copyright Association. Yeonjun has participated in numerous tracks for TOMORROW X TOGETHER and has been recognized for his impressive stage presence and remarkable musical abilities through his solo mixtape 'GGUM.'
Jungwon has played a pivotal role as the leader of ENHYPEN in their rise as 'K-pop top-tier artists.' They have opened up the realm of 'next entertainment' by combining K-pop with unique album stories, webtoons, and various other content. Heo Yunjin has been actively involved in the main producing of LE SSERAFIM's mini album track 'Reason for Not Going Mad' as well as songwriting and composing for the team's album, showcasing her artistic side by consistently releasing self-composed songs.
KATSEYE (Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sofia, Yoonchae) has all members invited as new members. After debuting in the U.S. through HYBE's 'K-pop production system' led by Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, they showcased their outstanding vocal and performance abilities, creating a popular sensation. With their second EP 'BEAUTIFUL CHAOS' recently released, they entered the latest Billboard main album chart at No. 4 (as of July 12), just a year after their debut, and placed songs 'Gabriela' and 'Gnarly' on the 'Hot 100.'
Producers Slow Rabbit, Supreme Boi, and Wonderkid have created numerous hit songs while interacting with artists from HYBE Music Group, including BTS, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, ENHYPEN, ILLIT, &TEAM, and KATSEYE. Among these, BTS's 'DNA,' 'MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix) (Feat. Desiigner),' 'IDOL,' J-Hope's 'Chicken Noodle Soup (feat. Becky G),' Jimin's 'Set Me Free Pt.2,' LE SSERAFIM's 'EASY' and 'CRAZY,' ILLIT's 'Magnetic,' and KATSEYE's 'Gnarly' have all entered the Billboard 'Hot 100.'
The Recording Academy selects new member candidates every year through peer evaluation by existing members. Those nominated will go through the relevant procedures to become new members. At HYBE, Chairman Bang Si-hyuk and the seven members of BTS, along with producer Pdogg, have been selected as voting members.
