Icon of late motherhood Choi Ji-woo shared her parenting struggles. She stated that she actively 'chases after' mothers who are twenty years younger than her to exchange information for her daughter.
On the afternoon of the 8th, Choi Ji-woo appeared as a guest on SBS's entertainment program 'Thumannameon.' That day, she shared updates while engaging in parenting talk with Yoo Jae-suk, who is raising a daughter of the same age.
Choi Ji-woo noted, 'Relationships with mothers are very important. We need to meet. If we want the kids to play together and follow each other, we need to meet.'
In response, Yoo Yeon-seok asked, 'Do you exchange information?' Choi Ji-woo emphasized, 'I run around actively, just really run around. I gave birth late, so there's no choice. It's very tough, but I chase after them actively.' Choi Ji-woo actively interacts with other mothers so her daughter can socialize with friends and engage in various activities.
Yoo Yeon-seok continued, 'They must all be younger than you,' to which Choi Ji-woo, surprised, said, 'They're not just younger, there's a twenty-year age gap. There are so many moms born in the 90s. I chase after them. When I say, 'Would you like to join me?' they respond, 'Yes, thank you,' and I follow them. What can I do?' Choi Ji-woo was 46 years old when she had her first daughter.
Choi Ji-woo also mentioned, 'Since I gave birth late and married late, I don't think I feel like, 'I want my time. This is unfair.' I feel like I don't think about that at all,' expressing satisfaction about reducing work and focusing on parenting.
Then, Yoo Yeon-seok said, 'You've done it all,' to which Choi Ji-woo replied, 'That's not the case. I haven't been able to make many movies, and I haven't done much. Of course, I have ambitions, but nowadays I feel more at ease just going with the flow.'
Choi Ji-woo revealed her special feelings for her 5-year-old daughter. She said, 'This is the time when she needs a lot of attention. Now she can communicate and express her feelings with words. It's just right to take her around.' She also stated, 'I still don't show her videos. At mealtimes, we prohibit using mobile phones as parents.'
Choi Ji-woo announced her marriage to a non-celebrity who is 9 years younger on March 9, 2018. In May 2020, she welcomed her first daughter. At that time, Choi Ji-woo was 46 years old and earned the title 'Icon of late motherhood.' She expressed, 'Having a child at an older age while anxiously preparing during COVID made me respect mothers in Korea even more. I hope that prospective moms who are preparing for childbirth with great difficulty will feel more motivated by seeing me, the 'Icon of late motherhood.'
