Singer HEYOON has unveiled a reinterpreted version of "Damdadi" with a newtro sensibility.
HEYOON showcased a short remix performance video of Lee Sang-eun's original song "Damdadi" through her official social media on the 27th of last month. This content was planned as a special project exclusive to META and TIKTOK, serving as a surprise gift for fans rather than a formal single or full music release.
In the released video, HEYOON matched a blue bandana and a puffy-core style windbreaker, perfectly paying homage to the style that Lee Sang-eun, the original artist of "Damdadi," showcased on the stage of the "Kangbyeon Song Festival." Against a kitschy background filled with neon signs and pop art patterns, she delivered a free-spirited performance to the remix of "Damdadi", accurately targeting the sensibility of the MZ generation.
In particular, a setting video that addresses the curiosity about "Why was it specifically "Damdadi"?" was also released, adding to the viewing pleasure. In the concept video titled "Damdadi Marketing Meeting," HEYOON humorously recreated Lee Sang-eun's performance while mimicking the 'clothes hanger dance' of Duk-sun from the drama "Reply 1988" in response to a staff member's question, "Where did this song come from?"
Additionally, displaying her charming appeal through addictive situational dramas, she was seen singing "Damdadi" saying she was caught on a "dam" or accidentally playing the "Damdadi" video while sliding. Moreover, the surprise appearance of rapper Bryan Chase drew attention. In the video, he asked, "Where did this song come from?" and when HEYOON pulled a paper from a pile, "Damdadi" was revealed in a witty depiction of the project's behind-the-scenes.
