Kim Yoo-gon, the CP of 'Dad! Where Are You Going?', will lead CJ ENM's entertainment division, while Park Sang-hyuk, the CP who planned the EXchange series, will oversee the tvN channel.
According to OSEN's coverage on the 9th, Kim Yoo-gon has been appointed as the new head of CJ ENM's Entertainment Division. Additionally, Park Sang-hyuk will manage channels like tvN and OCN. This appointment is seen as a measure to strengthen the production and scheduling lineup ahead of the regular personnel changes in the second half of the year.
The newly appointed Deputy Minister Kim Yoo-gon is a former MBC employee who opened a new horizon for family entertainment with 'Dad! Where Are You Going?'. After moving to CJ ENM in 2016, he successfully led series like 'Escape from the Nest', 'Amazing Sorting', and 'Europe Outside the Tent'. His appointment as Deputy Minister is interpreted as an attempt to enhance production competitiveness by putting an experienced producer in charge.
Park Sang-hyuk, the CP, has also been spearheading youth-oriented entertainment and travel shows, planning original content for TVING like EXchange and 'Following My Brother to Maiya'. As he now oversees both tvN and OCN channels, he is expected to actively develop content strategies that encompass cable and OTT platforms.
Regarding this, CJ stated through OSEN, "Park Sang-hyuk, the head of the Media Business Department, has been serving as the head of the Channel Business Division responsible for tvN content and programming since last year. He was appointed based on the judgment that he is the optimal person to strengthen channel competitiveness in line with the rapidly changing industry."
Additionally, "Kim Yoo-gon, the head of the NS Business Division, is expected to present a new paradigm of entertainment content and contribute to the development of globally oriented entertainment content. In the future, we plan to focus on producing competitive content in the global market through various attempts with newly selected young talents within the nonscript business division," it was explained.
As competition with global platforms like Netflix and Disney+ intensifies, CJ ENM is also focusing on strengthening internal capabilities and establishing new leadership. This appointment and organizational restructuring is expected to allow CJ ENM to internalize its content production capabilities and strategically reorganize to target the global market.
